Question about DISH Network ViP 612
My ViP 612 (third one from Dish Network) will randomly go into reset mode on it's own. Sometimes once or twice a day, often several times an hour! It seems to get worse over time as the latest unit went several weeks before starting this activity. This is quite annoying and may happen at any time. I have removed the unit from the surge protector and plugged it directly into the wall socket.
It seem unrelated to any other activity in the house, such as refridgerator or A/C kicking on. The latest unit was also installed by their technician who also saw no other problems. As I said, this is my third unit with the same problem. Is there a design flaw in this unit? Are many other people having the same problem? If so I should I push Dish network to replace this unit with a different model.
You need the unit replaced for sure but the thing to remeber is that all electronics are subject to damage from vibrations during transit from the manufacturer to the consumer therefore replacing it with another type will only open you up to the same possibility for failure as replacing the current 612. If you prefer CSC can ship you one if you request it and this will ensure that the receiver you receive came from a different lot than the original. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
