Question about Canon MV750i Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

My veiw is not visible thru eye piece (yes the cap is off) I have not used my vid for approx 10 months. Is this likely to be a battery problem or CCD? The vid does switch itself on & off & the bird twitters on start-up.

I now find there is no view either thru' eyepiece or LCD screen, but following your advice using charger direct (without battery attached) there was still no view.

First, if the battery was connected to the unit for all of that time it is D-E-A-D. Use the AC charger for power with the battery disconnected if necessary--if everything works, its the battery. The problem is not CCD related at all if you can get an image on either display(not on a playback mode), that immediately rules out the CCD--it provides for *all* displays. However, if you can view using the LCD screen, and still can't use the eyepiece, then there is an internal problem with the unit. Camcorders and cameras don't like to be be unused for long periods of time. Internal electronic components can become defective from lack of use. If you find that your camcorder needs repair, send it directly to a manufacturer repair facility--stores add their own "handling charge" by usually halving the repair quote and then adding that amount to the bill *you* see.

Hello again! It's beginning to sound like some internal components are failing--Usually it's a part called a capacitor(an electronic part that charges and stores electricity). There are many of them in a camcorder and when they aren't used, the material inside them goes bad. It's so bad of a problem with some brands that whole "capacitor kits" are sold to technicians(include ALL the caps to redo the whole camera in one shot!) This might be going on with yours...At first, I was thinking that a flexible circuit board cracked. These are actual circuits made from extremely thin plastic sheets with the conductive lines enclosed inside. They can be bent around corners and flexed to "form fit" inside a camera. Typically, they're used where parts are constantly being moved, such as an eyepiece or the fold-out lcd screen. Since the battery was determined to *not* be the problem, definitely send the cam in for repair--any reputable shop will give you a price quote and explanation for the failure.---Rick

Remove toner cartridge. You will find paper piece in there, I believe. Get ALL pieces out, put in fresh paper, restart. That usually does it.

I could be that the rubber washer that is on the piece that the hose screws on to is dried out. Try replacing it. Any outdoor products store would have it.

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser-- try again. You may need to make several turns of the focuser knob to get into focus.

Veiw finder(eye piece ) out of focus pictures are fine

Use the diopter adjustment to refocus the viewfinder to your eye.

Point the camera at a sign or something with writing on and half press the shutter button to focus then move the little adjuster at the top right of the viewfinder until the image in the veiwfinder is in focus
