I use acer aspire 4551 and window 7 and my webcam not working.i cannot install driver because it said the devices is unrecognize.in devices manager not show imaging devices hardware.and only show unknown...

I went to the ACER website for your machine. It seems that there isn't really a "driver" per se associated with the webcam. There is a webcam application that must be installed however. Interestingly enough, there are three different applications available, as there appears to be three possible vendors for the webcam. It is possible you are trying to load the application program for a different vendor than your machine has.

Cut and paste the URL below into you web browser. Select the applcaitions tab. Download all three applications and see if one of them will load and recognize your webcam. Hope this helps!

Webcam no working

1. Check if the webcam driver is installed. go to Device Manager, if your computr have Vista/7 you can type "Device Manager" in the start search box in the start menu and click on Device Manager in the results list at the top. If you have XP, right click on the "My Computer" icon then Properties, from the System Properties windows go to the "Hardware" tab then from there click on the Device Manager button.

2. Once Device Manager is open, look for "Imaging Devices" click on the small + sign to expand the view and check if your webcam is listed there, if it doesn't come up or if it does and have a red "X" on it, we will need to reinstall the driver to fix it.

3. Most HP/Compaq notebook computers have a "Recovery" partition. We can reinstall all bundled programs and drivers from there. For Vista/7, type "Recovery Manager" in the search box, for XP look for the Recovery Manager in the Programs Menu.

4. When the Recovery Manager program loads, select "Hardware/Driver Reinstallation". A list of all drivers will be listed, look for the webcam driver. Follow the on screen instructions for installation.

5. When installation finishes, the computer might restart automatically or if it doesn't restart the computer.

6. Test the webcam.

Hope this help.

No sound on my Arcsoft webcam Companion on my BenQ

You mean the webcam mic is not working?
First try reinstalling the webcam driver, to make sure the mic device is installed. Then check the sound recording settings in the device manager, and make sure the webcam mic is the default device. Also check the recording levels.
Lastly, in the program you are using, also check the recording settings as they may override the default settings.
More ideas here.

I have an HP notebook w/ built-in webcam, it doesn't turn on.

If it does not show on the accessories of the start menu, check the Programs and Features of the Control Panel and see if it has not been uninstalled mistakenly. But if it is there, may be it has hidden some where.

But to put everything back in order, you need to do a system restore using the Recovery Manager, so that all the setting on your laptop would go back to its default.

You will find Recovery Manager in All Programs of the Start Menu.

Take care.

Can't locate driver packet for my webcam. what is the designation that I should look for? I lost the webcam when my laptop had to have Vista re-installed.

Hi,

The first thing is that how did you format the computer ?
if you used the recovery manager of the factory shipped recovery media then we can get the drivers back

however, if you formatted the computer with a retail version of the OS then we have to download the drivers from
www.hp.com/support
which may or may not work

Else here are the steps

go to device manager ? the webcam driver should be listed under imaging devices or HID devices. right click and uninstall it
now reinstall it from the recovery manager > advance options > hardware driver reinstallation > select and install.

if it does not work then go to device manager and uninstall all the USB root hubs under USB devices

Do a Bios default.

check with the factory shipped software ( quick play / HP media smart )

If the webcam does not show the picture you need to perform the below steps. If the webcam works, you need not to perform the below steps. Please ignore the below steps. However, I personally recommend you to save this email and if any time the webcam does not work or if it shows blank screen please perform the below steps.
Before we trouble shoot this issue let me explain the reason for this issue, HP has released new driver for webcam and the driver update process can’t be done automatically and as long as the old driver exists the webcam does not work, To resolve this issue First we need to uninstall the existing webcam from device manager. Then restart the notebook and install the latest driver to resolve this issue
Step 2: Steps to Uninstall the Webcam drivers from the device manager.
1. Click on start and click on Control panel.
2. Click on "the Classic View" on the top left side of the control panel.
3. Double click on the "Device Manager" icon in the list.
4. Click on + next to the Imaging devices. Now you would see one HP Pavilion webcam or more then one web cam listings under the Imaging devices.
4. Right click on each HP Pavilion web cam and click on uninstall. And confirm un installation if it prompts. (Click on Yes.)
5. Now the Imaging devices option should not appear on the device manager.
Note: If the HP pavilion webcam is not listed or Imaging device is not listed, in device manager you need to reset the Bios to enable the webcam. Once you reset the Bios the webcam will listed in device manager. Here are the steps to reset the Bios.
1. Restart the notebook.
2. Tap the F10 key as soon as the HP logo appears.
3. Using the arrow keys, navigate to Exit Menu, select "Load Setup Defaults" and select "Exit Saving Changes"
Step 3: Restart the notebook.
Step 4: Click on the below link and then click on Save button of the download window. Click on brows and then click on desktop then click on Save.
*we need to download the file to the desktop.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34501-35000/sp34746.exe
Step 5: Installing downloaded web cam driver (sp34746).
1. Double click on the downloaded file (sp34746) and follow the on screen instructions to install the file.
Step 6: Once the installation prompts you that the installation has been successfully completed. Now you need to restart the notebook.
Now check the webcam input in Quickplay software using the steps provided on the step no. 1. The webcam should work, if the webcam does not work please verify the below steps.
Step 7: Enable the Imaging services on the notebook.
1. Tap Window key(flag key on the keyboard) and R key on the keyboard, at once.
2. You would see the Run window on the screen.
3. Type SERVICES.MSC and hit enter.
4. You would see the services window on the screen.
5. Double click the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service, and under the startup type select Automatic.
6. Click on "Start" button if it is stopped under Service status
7. Click on Apply and Ok.

Step 8: Now check the webcam in quickplay or Muvee software. verify the step 1 to know about how to use the webcam in quickplay or muvee.
If the still issue persists, Please check webcam name in device manager. If you see USB 2 Video device under the Imaging devices the webcam works properly (it means latest drivers have been loaded successfully). If you see the HP Pavilion webcam under the imaging devices, it means still the notebook is using old webcam drivers and you need to repeat the steps from Step 2:
Follow theses steps should help ya get back on line with your cam .

Good Luck, Have a great Sunday and a safe one.
