My laptop shows connectivity but will not let me access

First I accidently intalled my old virus protector CD (Norton), but realized I grabbed the wrong one, so I uninstalled and removed Norton Components, and then I installed my new virus protector CD (Mcafee). The next time I tried to go onine my laptop shows that I am connected but I am unable to access the internet using both IE and Firefox.

As you are connecting to FixYa by some means you should be able to get to the site to download the app? If not send me an email to and I can email the app to you.

You will need to look at your firewall settings as McAfee will most likely have blocked access to the internet. This seems to be a common issue with this app.

No, you have to completely unistall McAfee.

Download the app to your desktop (but do not run it) then copy it onto a CD / DVD or pen drive and copy and install on your laptop.

Download the app fromthe Symantec Link below to you desktop and copy it on a Pen Drive / USB Stick or CD and then place that in your laptop and run the application from there to remove Norton completely.

Temporarily disable Norton, download, then turn Norton back on again. I have to do that with my Vypr when downloading ROMs.

Tying to install kaspersky anti virus programme.its coming up to remove norton anti virus which ive removed all norton programmes but its still saying remove norton virurs

If you did a reboot then it should be gone however; Norton is notorious for not removing all of its little registry stragglers after uninstall. They have a program that will go in and grab the remnants.

Please see

Also please offer a review if this was helpful and a thumbs up :)

I paid for it and have a product key. Norton says it is invalid.

If you have been charged for a Norton Automatic Renewal and your Norton product shows expired :
When Norton Automatic Renewal service extends the subscription to your Norton product, it is intended to automatically synchronize your subscription to the updated expiration date. Sometimes, due to connectivity issues, your Norton product may not be able to properly synchronize your new subscription. To resolve this issue, we recommend that you synchronize your computer with the Norton servers.
If you have a Norton 2009 product:
To fix the subscription status
1. Start your Norton product.
2. At the top right corner of the window, click Help & Support > Subscription Status.
3. Click Finish.

If your Product Key that you have typed is incorrect. Please follow these instructions to enter the correct Product Key.
If you are reinstalling Norton 2009, log on to your Norton Account to access your Product Key.
1. Log on to your Norton Account by going to the following Web page:
2. Type your email address and password. 3. Click Sign In. 4. Under Registered Products, select your Norton product. 5. Write down the Product Key.
Type your product key again, exactly as it appears on the back of the CD envelope, or in the confirmation email from Symantec for your download purchase.

I hope this is helpful.

My acer t180 won't start up in normal mode i have just intalled the new norton onto it i have 1gb of ram but it starts in i need more ram.....?

1. You may have to go into "safe mode" 1st and then start you pc in normal mode.
2. if you have a virus you may not be able to recover with the Norton anti virus.
3. There is a free software that you can try called "Ccleaner" this may restore you to the boot screen. A google search will find the site.
4. You may have to "format" the drive and reinstall your Operating System.
I hope this helps.

Cannot manage to load norton security programme

hi there,

although, not specified what you did but i presume 2 actions:

1. Running the program and cannot be completely loaded, it means that there's a program that block your Norton Internet Security 2008 to run, and that might be a Virus or Trojan. or someone is hacking in your pc (might be). and this will happen, if your Norton Internet Security 2008 is not updated and/or you install an internet plug ins in some of your visited website and through that plug ins the website administrator has a link in your pc to access, but not all.

solution: try to uninstall and fresh install your Norton Internet Security 2008 but before you do that make sure that you have a supported docs like cd key and response code from Norton if any, to successfully install your anti virus. and before you install, unplug your connection from internet (install offline, after installation, update it and scan your pc).

2. you install your Norton Internet Security 2008 and cannot be completely loaded, it means that Norton program is corrupted. please have a fresh copy in cd if any and install it.
