On this model, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

It's actually a pretty easy do it yourself job.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Next, disconnect the strip as shown in the photo below, then remove the screws that hold your circuit board in the old frame.

Then carefully (since the display is made of glass) move your circuit board to the new frame, and reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

The part number to order is WB07X11040 and you can get it here for $108.31 plus shipping.

You can also find helpful exploded view diagrams at that link.

I have a GE Spacemaker microwave, Model #JVM140H 002, manufactured March, 1990. Sometimes when it is cooking, it switches to a "timer" mode. Other times, I cannot get it to cook - it just goes to...

The problem is in the keypad controller, the microprocessor is mounted on a circuit board along with other parts behind the keypad. Now if this can be repaired it will come down to the availability of a replacement keypad module, you would need to check with the manufacture to see if they carry any stock and price. There might be a possibility that a appliance repairman or tv technician may be able to repair the module if replacement is not available.

You're going to have to replace the keypad module and possible the control module (do the keypad first). You can try contacting these folks: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/search.aspx?model=jem31sa%20001%20ge%20spacemaker%20microwave
And see if they have a keypad for your unit. Depending on the age of your microwave, you may be best off replacing the whole microwave.

GE Microwave Spacemaker oven, Model JVM240

That would almost certainly be a problem on the control circuit board. If the bulbs happen to short / blow out or if they are removed or installed while the microwave is still plugged in, there is often an arc which causes damage to the board. We repair regularly these boards for such problems for $32.50 nationwide.
