When an USB drive makes problem on one computer only then an updated mainboard/chipset driver may help.
If it doesn't help then it may be just incompatible with the computer's USB ports - that's not unusual. Therefore it's helpful to have an additional USB PCI card as alternative in the computer, best with NEC chip.
Cheap USB extension cables may cause problems too. The thinner and longer the higher the risk for problems. The plugs wear out in time.
USB ports on front of the computer are more problematic because the USB is leaded by a cable thru the computer case which is full of interferences. Furthermore the port a mechanically stressed, so the usually fail sooner or later.
Other attached USB devices may interfere, usually such ones that don't use a default Windows driver and which permanently transfer data, such as web cams.
Cheap USB hubs die slowly. First symptoms are disappearing devices and communication freezes.
If an USB device has been detected as 'unknown device' once it might be necessary to delete it in the device manager and replug it then.
Another try is a complete USB device clearing by Microsoft DEVCON and the RenewUSB.bat from http://www.robvanderwoude.com/devcon.html
A cleanup can be done manually too. Put the following two lines into Notepad and save them as DevManager.CMD:
set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
devmgmt.msc
Started thru this DevManager.CMD the Windows device manager shows non present devices too if you check "View" -> "Show hidden devices". Under "Disk drives", devices shown with a light gray icon are non present. Just delete them. Same procedure under "Storage volumes". There may be a lot of them...
My commandline tool DriveCleanup does it for all currently non present storage volumes and USB drives.
Microsoft has set up a page for General USB troubleshooting in Windows XP
To have DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1 set permanently, download and doubleclick this file: DevMgr_Show_1.reg. After next logon it takes effect.
It also sets DEVMGR_SHOW_DETAILS=1 to get the "Details" tab in the device's properies dialog under XP.

I cannot install the above mentioned scanner since the driver is unspecified

IF IT IS USB BARCODE SCANNER, DO THESE:

1.

Locate the USB connector on the bar code scanner. Bar code scanners, like other computer peripherals, connect to the computer by way of a data cable. At the end of the data cable, most likely opposite the scanner itself, should be a small rectangle-shaped plastic and metal connector. This connector is the USB terminal that will plug in to the computer's USB port.
2.
Locate the USB port on the computer. The USB port, whether on the computer or a peripheral device, will be rectangular in shape and feature either the letters "U S B" or a small network diagram showing two circles, a square, and an arrow.
3.
Connect the USB cable to the computer or peripheral device. Once the USB connector and port have been identified, push the USB connector firmly but gently into the available USB port. USB connectors are keyed so that they can only be inserted the correct way; if you feel solid resistance while inserting the USB connector, remove the connector from the port, turn it over and plug it in.
4.
Install bar-code reading software. While the bar code scanner can scan the bar code into the machine, software must decipher the meaning of the code. Bar code scanners, if purchased new, should include a version of proprietary bar code software compatible with your scanner. If your scanner did not come with software, or if it is missing the installation disc, bar code software may be purchased on the Internet from sites like WaspBarcode.com.

TO INSTALL A SERIAL BAR CODE SCANNER, DO THESE:

1.

Locate the serial connector on the bar code scanner. Bar code scanners, like other peripherals, connect to the computer by way of a data cable. At the end of the serial cable should be a rectangular, typically male connector. The cable may be pinned with nine, sixteen, or more pins depending on the design of the scanner.
2.
Locate the serial port on the computer. Most computers have at least one serial port, usually found on the back of the machine. The port will be female, maybe blue in color, rectangular in shape, and should be approximately the same size (or slightly smaller) as the serial connector.
3.
Connect the serial cable to the computer or connected peripheral. When both the connector and port have been identified, push the serial connector firmly but gently into the port. Like USB connectors, serial connectors are keyed so that they can only be inserted the correct way; if you feel solid resistance while inserting the connector, remove the connector from the port, turn it over and plug it in. Do not use excessive force while pushing on the serial connector, as it is possible to bend the connecting pins and damage the connector.
4.
Install bar-code reading software. While the bar code scanner can scan the bar code into the machine, software must interpret the meaning of the code. Bar code scanners, if purchased new, should include a version of proprietary bar code software compatible with your specific scanner. If your scanner did not come with software, or if it is missing the installation disc, bar code software may be purchased on the Internet from sites like WaspBarcode.com.

Ipod wont work

If it is under warranty still retrieve the serial number from the back of the iPod and call Apple to setup an appointment at your nearest Apple store to save you time. They only take appointments now that I know of.
If by resetting you mean by:
Holding down menu & play/pause?
If that doesn't work plug it into the computer, make sure you have iTunes installed and then try restoring it. And if THAT doesn't work, make sure you have the lastest iTunes, and firmware. Sometimes computers are a little iffy, if the connection noise is present and disconnected it could be the USB port. Sometimes on my phone/mp3 players it'll do that and they only liked to be plugged back into the same original port the USB driver was installed on. So if you plugged it through the front when it was working try that.

Hi i bought a Z4mplus.. I have a laptop that only has usb ports and have connected the zebra with a usb - serial converter... however the computer installs the printer driver but wont send any information...

Make sure the serial port parameters match between the printer and the usb-serial driver. The Zebra printer is usually set to 9600 baud, 7 data bits, Even parity and 1 stop bit. The serial driver is probably different. The mismatch will prevent communications.

Hope that helps !
