Hi

If you are using Imac then this will work with IMOVIE O8. You have to:

Step 1: Plug in camera with Firewire with the camera OFF
Step 2: Turn ON camera
Step 3: Start imovie

You can also try to connect your I-link to Firewire cable then, start Imovie and also turn on the camcorder (does not matter which order). On Camcorder touch screen press Guide, then Connect Guide, then the Icon showing the computer, then ok the first screen ( should show the inline to I link cable), then Press HDV. After this Press No. Press okay, then okay again, then end. If still the issue is not resolved please check these links:

Sony HDR-HC5

Sony HDR-HC5 Connections

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Merge/Edit Sony CX360V 1920x1080 50p/60p AVCHD to ProRes 422(HQ)(*mov) on FCP X with Highest quality

I used Sony HDR-CX360V to record 1920x1080 50p/60p AVCHD MTS files, which are not compatible with FCP X. So in order to edit the movies on FCP X, conversion from MTS in 50/60 progressive mode to ProRes is necessary.

I've tried Clipwrap, Toast and Aunsoft to carry out the conversion. Along with the announcement of the HDR-FX1, Apple Computer is announcing support for the HDV spec with their popular video editing program, Final Cut. "Native HDV support in future releases of Final Cut will enable our customers to create high quality HD content with affordable HDV cameras, including Sony's much anticipated HDR-FX1 camcorder," said Rob Schoeben, Apple's Vice President of Applications Marketing.
Adobe has also stated that they will be releasing an HDV plug-in for their popular Premiere editing system later this year. "The Sony HDR-FX1 is a milestone product, bringing HD-quality video at resolutions of up to 1080i at a price that will encourage widespread adoption of HDV across the industry. In keeping with our commitment to lead the HD revolution, Adobe plans to release a HDV Plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro later this year," said Steve Saylor, Vice President, Digital Imaging and Video, Adobe Systems, Inc.
Avid, Canopus, Ulead and Pinnacle also announced support for HDV. Editing support has been a big issue for HDV in the past, with third party companies supplying solutions for Final Cut and Adobe Premiere.

My computer does not recognize my Sony hdr Hc5 camcorder. I cannot download my videos. I use firewire. I am using windows xp

Take a look at the firewire port on the camera, you should see four "pins" for lack of a better word. On mine, one of them was bent and I had to use a fine needle to bend it back in place, then presto everything works

Go to manufacture's website. Find the download or support tab. Then look for the very latest drivers for your camera. Then download onto pc, double-click to extract and install the driver, then restart pc, Then turn on camera first, then start any programs you are using, then finally connect with usb/i-link/HD cable.

When pc doesn't recognize a device, it is due to the driver.
