You are generally better off replacing the pump with the same model. Hot tubs are noisy unless you have a really good insulation job. It is unlikely changing the pump will make it any different as far as noise goes. The flip side is that the manufacturer sized the pump to match the hydraulic load present within your specific tub and to provide the necessary flow rate to keep the water clean. It can lead to problems if you put in the wrong replacement unit.

Either the pump is shutting itself down or the spa pack is shutting it down and indicating a flow problem. The motor is thermally protected and now I am suspicious that it is getting too hot and shutting down...then the spa pack indicates no flow. Or else the spa pack is shutting the pump down. I have jumpered across the pressure switch and it still shuts down. Does a thermally protected motor shut down to avoid getting damaged from too much heat? And what would cause the motor to get too hot. The pump is a 5 hp pump, but only the 1.5 hp product shows up on the list.
