Just buy a new SATA HD of what ever capacity fits your budget. Keep the old one as it works with your setup. There is no point causing extra work for yourself.

Power off the computer. Conenct Power to the drive and a SATA cable to the new drive (should be supplied with it) and the motherboard. Power on the computer and then format the new drive. The drive letter will be assigned by the Operating System. Once completed you have a new drive to use.

You are better off to add a drive; if one drive dies, you'll have the other for backup purposes

Computer Tips: Low Memory Problems

How to solve low memory problems...?

Normally this warning message shows when you run many programs same time than the RAM installed on your computer is designed to support. Your can solve this problem by increasing the system paging file size also called as virtual memory. Using this virtual memory windows moving information to and from the paging file for fast processing. This will free up enough RAM for other programs to run properly.
To increase the system page file follow the give path:

e7a0e76.jpg
Control Panel > System > Advanced > Click on Settings (Under Performance) > Advanced > Change
Here under Drive (Volume label), you have option to select any of your hard disk drive, but the best choice is, select any drive other than C drive for virtual memory.

Set the double Initial & Maximum Size of your Virtual Memory. Here set initial size 700 MB and maximum size up to 1000MB; you can change this size according to the free space available on your hard drive.

I have a Maxdata Desktop that is about 4 years old, I thought I had a Hard Drive failure but I am tiold that the Motherboard needs replacing. Does any body know where I can take the PC to get it repaired?

well try replacing it and see whether the problem persists. What makes you sure that its a drive failure? Or, use the drive on another machine and see if its OK. if not, am sorry you have to replace the motherboard

When ever i try to go into any of my charicters is said do not have downloadable content even though its game of the year and i noticed that this also happend when i rented fallout new vegas

when you FIRST put the game of year edition in there will be a screen that comes on with the additional content you need to have all of those boxes checked for it to load those programs into your hard drive or other storage device. You can check to see if its installed by going into my xbox-system settings-memory-hard drive/memory storage/games-fallout 3 and looking there. Otherwise you'll need to reinstall and double check the additional content is checked before proceeding

How do i combime two hard drives to increase memory ?

RAM (Random Access Memory) are memory chips that the computer uses to run programming on the computer. This can be upgraded to the limit the computer will support, a good reference for capability of your system and a good source for purchase at www.crucial.com
The Hard Disk Drive, is like a computer filing cabinet where you install programs and store data on your system.
I assume, you are talking about combining 2 hard drives to create more disk space on your system. This is done by setting up a RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Drives) To do this you will need a computer that supports RAID or install a RAID controller and configure 2 or more drives to create an array.

Help me plz

Hi chschs,

A couple of suggestions, assuming you are running XP:
1. increase your swap file/virtual memory to roughly double your physical memory;
2. defrag your main hard drive;
3. Trim/slim down your startup files (msconfig);
4. select "Adjust for best performance" in your Performance Options (System properties);
5. Verify that you do not have any malwares lurking somewhere.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Add memory to HP/Compaq nc6000?

Yes you should increase the memory. XP runs suitably well at 512mb. At 1GIB it blazes.

The memory meter is pegged because it is having to use the Harddrive as ram (Swapfile) which is 1000x slower than RAM.

XP with nothing on it, straight from the factory will run with 256, but after 3-6 months of use, and adding applications it will get progressively slower.
