Question about Denon DVM-1805 DVD Player

1 Answer

DVDM 1805 I have a Denon DVDM 1805 and have had progressively more trouble reading commericial movie DVDs. It often complains of disk errors, or freezes during play, or skips large sections of a movie. If I unload and load a disk several times I can sometimes get it to read a toublesome DVD. Can you provide any recommendations? Thanks in advance, Craig

Re: DVDM 1805

It sounds like you might need to clean the laser eye, try that and get back with me

Progressive scan problem

You need to clean your laser lens my friend. If that does not help, I'm afraid then that your laser assembly is going bad and on its last leg. The first clue to this is that you stated that the Cd's work and the DVDs do not work properly. The laser, when it gets weak, starts to mess up on the Dvds first but the Cd's will soon follow. Good Luck

It's a software issue. you need to ring the manufacturer to get files and instructions on how to upgrade your machine so it can play the newer blu ray movies. Quite a common problem.

ILO DVDR05 recorded DVD's freeze

Burn your DVDs at tow positions slower than what the system and discs say. It sounds as if there is a huge amount of error being introduced during the write process. Unfortunately, the old discs can only be recovered with an external program like Zero Assumption Recovery or the like....accordianman

Denon 3910 won't load some dvds/cds and vibrates while trying.."disc error"!

I have the Denon 2900 (about 4 years of use) and until recently, suffered from the same (growing) problem. CD's were very difficult to start/read. I recently found advice which I tried and was succesful with. It was manually cleaning the laserlens. I took away the outer housing by unscrewing all off the on top (6), side (4) and the back (2) bolts. After that I took out the top plate of the laserunit which took two very little screws taking out. Now you are looking at the cd-tray with the lens. Take a very soft and clean cloth and moisten it a little bit with clean water (be very carefull with the moistening, don't allow any waterdrop to come out of the cloth into the laserlens while cleaning! Carefully clean the lens and dry it with a dry part of the same cloth. Replace the top plate and the outer housing and the player will recognize the discs like it's new again. Good luck! DVD Freezes during playback

it might be that you are playing a dual layer dvd in the player. The player needs to focus on the second layer of the movie, and that might be why the dvd freezes. Leave it there for a while and the dvd should continue if it is this situation.

Samsung DVD-4600 DVD/VCR Player

My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.

So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.

Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.
