IIRC right is the tip (50%) and you may not be inserted enough or too much. Verify the plug works in another device? It's also possible the jack has moved--do you have another headphone device to check with?-Ken

The jack needs to be replaced. If you want to do it yourself, the good news is, it's not too hard to open a Macbook. Here is an Macbook Repair Guide that shows how to open an Macbook. Just open it and let it try, clean off any corrosion you can find. If you want somebody else to do it for you go to iPad Repair NYC.

Can I use headphones on a Kindle?

Some Kindles have an earphone jack and some don't You can use earphones only if your Kindle has the earphone jack. It is the mini-jack like used in iPods and iPhones and many headphones (as opposed to ear buds) use a larger size jack.
Adapters are available. Try Radio Shack for adapters and lead cables. Keep in mind that most earphones require more power to operate than earbuds do and the Kindle may not be able to sufficiently power headphones to get any decent volume.

I want to connect my amp to my pc

use a mini adapter to a large one.(3.5 to 1/4) or mini headphone jack to 1/4 headphone jack.plug a male3.5 into your outgoing headphone jack or from the pc convert the other end of that cord to get you to the proper size or 1/4 head phone jack.the primary cord from the pc needs to be a male to female cord.they make adapters that will get you the rest of the way.3.5 mini male to 1/4 phono female.then you plug your amp in to the 1/4 female.wala

Sound

Except for the Headphone jack (mini-jack) and the coax audio, all of the audio jacks are audio IN. Which jack do you have your speakers connected to? The headphone jack is on the side next to the coax connection (ANT) and the coax audio out is at the bottom of that set of side jacks. The headphone mode should automatically cut the TV speakers. The coax audio out is set up by pressing Menu and then using the down arrow to highlight Audio. Then press the right arrow button to enter the submenu. Press the up or down arrow to reach SPDIF. Then you use the left and right menus to select PCM, Digital Dolby or OFF.

I hope this helps.

If I hook up a set of headphones to the slot on the side of the TV the sound goes off and you can only hear sound through the headphones, no one else in the room can hear the TV. Is there a way to hook...

The headphone jack on the TV has switch built-in to kill the TV speakers when headphne jack is used, you need to use powered PC speakers with headphone jack and connect this PC speakers to the Audio line out of the TV set (RED and WHITE RCA audio line out). Basically the powered PC speakers are being used a headphone driver. Or you can get one of those wirless headphone system instead.

No sound form the headphones jack? The mini disc is playing on the frunt of the player can see.

Are you getting audio out of the back jacks on the unit? If audio output is okay, it's just the headphone circuit/jack.

Replacement connector for Sennheiser PX 250 doesn't work...

The bare copper conductor wire is the screening/common earth to the two signal wires of green and red. The important connection is the copper wire which goes to the jack plug earth which is the section furthest from the tip. The other two are the left and right signal connections. If you get these the wrong way round you will just have to swap them over. Check if they are the right way round by using the balance control on your amplifier or whatever. Have you checked that the problem is not with the headphone amplifier within your equipment? Don't rely on OK sound from loudspeakers as the headphones may be fed from separate op-amp output chip. Try another pair of cheap and cheerful headphones to make sure.

Audio from tv is not restored by turning off power on headphones

It sounds as if you are plugging the base into a standard headphone jack located on the Television set.

RCA Headphone jacks (incl mini) automatically stop the sound output to the main speakers on almost every set I have seen.. or home stereo.. etc etc

In other words you can take a standard RCA jack.. with nothing connected to it.. plug it in while the music or sound is coming out the main speaker.. and it will cut off the output to those speakers..

If you set has audio outputs on the back.. preferably Fixed Audio Out .. you will need to connect your base unit to those.. turn your set volume to 0 and adjust the headset volume using the control on the right ear-cup.

If you have variable audio out.. you will need to go into your TV sets setup menu.. turn off the speaker.. and turn up the set until you achieve a signal and decent volume through the headset.

If you are missing these connections.. your current “work around” is your only solution.

Best of luck

Cahnging plug

The standard HD25SP cable's 1/4" jack screws over the mini-jack. There's no reason for you to do any soldering. If you have a few inches of cord left from where you cut the plug off you may want to re-splice the cable back together to their corresponding colours. Then unscrew the 1/4" ******** to reveal the mini-jack.
