Question about Ryobi 30 Cubic Centimeter Gas Brush Cutter

1 Answer

I can't restart my Ryobi cutter once it's been running.

Starts (with a little difficulty) and runs fine until I stop it. Then it won't restart - irrespective of where the choke is positioned.

This is because Ryobi uses a loose fit on their piston and cylinder. As the cylinder heats up it grows in size causing the compression to drop.
when the cylinder cools the cylinder shrinks and you regain your compression.

Another possibility is that you are boiling yoour gas causing a vapor lock. This also goes away once the unit cools.

I hsve a ryobi brush cutter when i tighten the carburator screws it does not want to start when i loosen them it starts can someone help

You have to adjust them properly.

Turn in both needles clockwise til snug, not super tight.

Now back each one out counter clockwise 1 full rotation

Now the L needie you adjust while the unit is just idling,
If it doesn't idle yet, back it out in 1 quarter turn increments

Once you have the unit idling where you it's running fine, basically if the brush cutter head is spinning while idling, you went too far...if it's not, it's right..

The H needle you do the same thing ONLY difference is whwn you adjust this needle you have to hold the trigger in the whole time you're adjusting it...

Exmark lazer HP 19 Kawasaki 50" deck new PTO and new relays blades engage for 30 minutes then shut off engine on. After cooling will engage for 10 minutes then shut off

Engine valves need adjusting.
symptoms: starts ok, runs until engine reaches max temp loses power then stops. can't restart when hot. once restarted runs for a while stops again.

There is very little clerance in these valves and temperature alters the lenth by a few thou and the valve don't close fully losing compression, once cold the valves shrink back enough to create enough compression to start again.

My car still stop all of a sudden without any warning and then it will have a little bit of a hard time starting.

If it starts fine when cold or will restart after it cools down and run until the engine warms up, have your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) replaced. I have seen quite a few lately that will "warm" up and cause the car/truck to gradually run rougher as the engine compartment heats up and once it sits and cools off will restart and run again. You can go to auto zone, advance auto, etc and have them run a free diagnostic test on your car and tell you for sure if any TPS trouble codes are stored

Hedge trimmer starts fine then stops after 5 minutes

Carburetor high speed adjustment ( screw nearest the filter ) open ( counterclockwise ) 1/2 turn.
Adjust again as needed to run when hot.
make sure the gas mixture ratio is as required.

Ryobi EX26 dies when hot, won't start, then when cool starts

This sounnds too good to be true, but believe it!

The next time you run the trimmer and it starts to die, loosen the gas cap. It should start to run again. This means that the gas cap is clogged. Either clear the gas cap or buy a new one. This should solve the problem.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.
