There must be a software along side the USB to install in your laptop so it could be recognized.

Mi HP compaq laptop does not read the stik, any idea how to solve it?

Have you tried the stick in a different computer?
Where was the stick written to?
The first thing to do is see if you can read it elsewhere, copy the files off it if you can, format the drive using windows, check if you can read/write in your computer and copy the files back to it, leaving them as a backup on the other computer in case the stick is faulty
How to Format Flash Drive
There are programs which can sometimes rescue usb stick data but your computer has to recognise that the stick is there. Look in disk management to see if it knows the stick is there. If it is you can use software such as

I have a problem with my trancend porteble hard disc.. when i connect the hard disc asq for formatted the disc.... i dont no why please tell me whats the problem.........

When Windows cannot read the "Table-Of-Contents" from a disk-drive, it takes a guess that the disk is brand-new, and requires "formatting" to make it ready to be used. Windows asks your permission, before doing that formatting.

If you have been using the drive for a while, and you have written files onto it, say 'NO'. It may be possible to "recover" those files
(like pages in a notebook -- they are not "blank", even though the Table-Of-Contents has become corrupted). Search online for "file recovery" software to read through the disk, page-by-page, that tries to reconstruct the Table-Of-Contents.

If the contents of the drive do not matter, say 'YES', to allow the formatting to occur. Take careful note whether the format completes "successfully" or "unsuccessfully".

When I connect it to my laptop (or ANY other computer/laptop) the blue light on the external hardrive turns on and I can feel that it is working, but it simply doesnt get read, the computers dont recognise...

Open the enclosure.
Separate the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter.
Connect the disk-drive as a 'slave' disk-drive in a desktop computer, and see if you can read the files.

If not, search online for a professional 'data recovery service' -- for a FEE, they can repair a disk-drive just long-enough to copy your files onto a new disk-drive.

Smart says hard driveabout to crash

Copy any important files now to another computer or DVD/CD or USB drive. The drive may fail soon. If you buy a new drive, some come with software which will allow you to copy one drive to another. You can buy a USB interface to have the new drive connected to the laptop and then run the software. HTH

More info please

the page I said before has software to make usb bootdisk from floppy ;also has floppy image if you cant find a floppy.
create new folder on desktop...
download hp usb boot to desktop...
download floppy image to new folder
make sure usb stick plugged in..
unpack/install hp usb boot ..
in the program
select device(usb stick
select quick format and create a dos startup disk.
"using dos system files located at" new folder...
click start..
thats ur usb bootable ...before you add any files you can try to see if it works cos sometimes you dont have to access bios it finds auto...worth a try seeing as the whole proccess of downloading installing and making usb bootable takes about 10 to 15 min...
if bios recognises device pc will start and you will see c:/ promt
of course this isnt a c:/prompt it just fools the bios .
if at first you see non system disk gtry press ctrl+alt+del and let start again (sometimes have to do this, bit like kickstart)
if you see the same error then obviosly bios needs to be told but if its recognised then add your files to the usb stick and away you go.

Printer will not install

Normal 0 Normal 0 Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
