Question about IBM ThinkPad T43 Notebook
As you may know, IBM ThinkPad uses a smalleeprom (ATMEL 24RF08) to store different OEM issues like serial number,UUID, etc. The supervisor password (SVP) is stored also into thislittle chip. So, anybody should figure that he needs to read the eepromin order to find the password string. The first problem is that 24RF08is not an ordinary eeprom. The second is that the password is writtenin a special scan code.
To read this properly you need a software (and an interface) specially designed for this eeprom.
The software is R24RF08 (eeprom reader) and IBMpass (password decoder).

According to lenovo it cant be,and you have tosend it in for service,i have been sucessful occasionally, power off the computer for 5 seconds, hold down f1 and power it up that should get you to the set and change supervisor password screen.first just try hitting enter as the password, sometimes it will accept it.if not type in anything to see how many characters it ishit enter confirm what you typed seeif that works, doesnt work very often but its worth trying, your best bet is to pull the power main battery ,hard drive ,and ram sticks out. locate the bios battery on the motherboard and remove it for about a day,the longer the better, put it all back and see if it resets, changing the hard drive might let you in also, probably have to take it apart to get to the battery, sometimes you can see it through one of the access panels on the bottom,or under the panel above the keyboard here the power buttion is ,if its the watch battery style be very carefull removeing it the holder will break off the motherboard, this should only be attempted by someone with laptop disassembly skills, hope this helps, let me know what happens "aloha from maui"todd0708

Repair CD or passware kit, or simply google it on the net, it's commonly available.
