With one hand, grab underneath the front of the front-piece.
With the other hand, hold the rest of the case motionless.

PULL! HARD! ... but not more than 2 or 3 inches,
so that you do not break any wires from the lamps on the front
that run inside the case.

See: http://www.eMachines.com for your specific model.
Lots of information about "end-user-replaceable" parts.

Replacing endcap part #W10121977

Just completed this project. First of all, there are NO screws to remove. Smack in the middle of the endcap slightly below midline there is a rectangle in "portrait orientation" with a tab in it. Reach in and gently pull tab forward while pulling entire assembly upward and it will pop off. Pull the assembly forward and the perpendicular connecting piece will roll forward as well. At a certain point, the end of the pependicular piece (the one attached to the back of the frig) will pop out as it is just wedged into a small vertical notch in the back wall. Take the entire assembly out of the frig and close the door because i promise you that the door is beeping you and the temp has risen to almost 50 degrees. to remove the sliding portion, you need to depress the remaining two tabs from behind to release the sliding portion and gently squeeze the two tabs on the end of the end cap so that you can separate the two pieces. Go slowly as these pieces are flimsy and fragile. You will have to rotate pieces at the back and front of the endcap to get the pieces out that you need to put back on the new endcap. The drawer slide comes out by depressing the remaining tab (just left of the tab that released the assembly to begin with.). Once you have the new "L" shaped assembly, you are ready to put it in. Start with fitting the back piece back into the tab at the rear of the frig. Fit the assembly into the corner, hold the original tab down and it will snap into place easily. Putting the cover back into place is a bit tricky, you will have to stick the hole of one side od the cover first and then gently pull back the tab on the other side to accommodate the other side hole. I was super careful because I didn't want to break the cover tab that made me have to change the end cabin the first place.

Attemping to install a PCI card for a remote receiver for a wireless system. I have the side cover off and just can't get PCI slot cover off. Can't find a screw or anything like that to release the slot...

Yes that is correct, find the one that is for the slot you need and remove the cover by bending it to and fro. It will then come away from the chassis. Be sure to remove any screws that may be holding it in place.
Then insert your PCI card in the slot and use a screw to secure it to the chassis.

Thanking you

I had a dvd break when I was trying to load the program and I can't get the pieces out of the hard drive and the hard drive won't shut.

well this is a fix that involves removing the drive from the case. there are several screws to remove to remove the cover, but if you are patient, this is actually easy. please read the entire post before proceeding!!!!
  • remove the rear cables(power and interface) from the drive. gentle pulling will do the trick. make sure to pull straight out on the cables and not at an angle as not to damage the pins(considering the possibility that this is more than likely a 40 pin eide drive.)
  • remove the retaining screws/brackets from both sides of the drive. then remove the drive from the front of the case. (some e-machines are a little tricky because you have to remove the front cover facade first. be gentle because some models have 4 screws holding the facade on and trying to remove without removing these screws will permanently damage the facade)
  • once the drive is out, (this will void the drive warranty but if your careful you shouldn't have a problem.) remove the screws in the cover for the drive. there should be a total of 4. once these screws are out the covers should come of and you will see the internal working area of the drive.
  • at this point you will want to be careful not to scratch the laser "eye". this is the heart of the drive and if scratched, you will be buying another drive. i do not suggest inverting the drive to remove the old pieces at this point for that reason.
  • with a pair of plastic tweezers (available at any dollar/dime store) remove all the pieces you can up to anything over 2 cm in size. use a shopvac if needed to remove any remaining pieces. now you can turn the drive upside down and tap lightly to make sure you have gotten all of the failed disc out.
  • the final step before reassembly would be to gently clean the lens with a lint free cloth and a little residue free alcohol. (your alcohol wipes from the first aid kit not advised)
thats it. reinstall in the reverse order and make sure since you have te case open, if you need to upgrade your video card/memory, do that now and use a can of air to dislodge any dust and vacuum that out before closing the case.
Now with that said, if you think you can afford a newer DVD/Blue ray drive: http://www.frys.com/product/6130659?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG buy it and upgrade your dvd drive.
If you have any problems let me know and please leave positive feedback for me. Jethro

I am a single woman trying to prepare my mastercool for winter. I don't know how to remove the pads, so if insructions could be sent, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't know the size of the cooler,...

Is it a side draft or downdraft cooler? My instructions simply say to cover the unit, disconnect the power and drain the water for winter. They don't suggest removing or cleaning the pads until spring. If you're ductwork also is connected to your furnace, and you don't have a cookie sheet(piece of sheet metal that fits in a slot beneath mastercool unit or along the inside if it's a side draft cooler) then besides covering the entire unit you cn probably cover the blower, also called the squirrel cage, with a canvas cover.

Need jumper settings for L7VMM emachine motherboard someone removed all the jumpers. c1641 emachine

ECS made three versions of the L7VMM mobo.

1.L7VMM ver1.1
2.L7VMM ver2.0
3.L7VMM ver3.0
(And revisions in-between these)

So without asking you what revision number is on your mobo, (Motherboard), I compared the specifications out of the Motherboard Manual for the L7VMM v1.1, L7VMM 2.0, and L7VMM 3.0, to the specifications of eMachines Support for the eMachines C1641 Desktop computer.

eMachines Support page for the eMachines C1641,

http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=C%20Series&model=C1641

(Click on the + sign next to Specifications)
The Specifications of the eMachines C1641, match.

All three of these motherboard's spec's fit. The revisions has nothing to do with the motherboard chipset used, processor socket, ram memory, or any other major hardware component. The jumper settings are the same.

This is why I feel comfortable with giving you the link to ECS Support, and the Motherboard Manual download page,
for the ECS L7VMM ver 2.0

http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=419&DetailName=New&DetailDesc=L7VMM2%20%20%28V2.0%29&CategoryID=1&MenuID=82&LanID=9

Disregard the following if you know how to download a ZIP file, and unzip it. (Unzip. Save it to your computer)

ZIP files are compressed files. When a file is too large to easily send over the internet, it is compressed. One method is to make it into a ZIP file, or ZIP files into a folder.

On the above ECS link, scroll down to the very bottom of the page where it states,
English manual for L7VMM2 PCB : 2.0
Release Date: 2003/03/28
File Size: 829KB

Now you have to chose a Server download site. You're supposed to choose one that is close to the country you are in.
I usually choose China, because it is a fast download server. Not because it is close to my country. (The file will be in English no matter where you download from)

Go to the blue down arrow with China to the right. Left-click right on China.

A small window will come up. Left-click in the middle of the empty circle to the left of - Save File. (A green dot should now be in the middle of it)
Go below to the right, and click on OK.

Watch the download progress bar, let the file download all the way.

Now, if you do not have your downloads set, to download to your My Documents folder, this file will be saved to your desktop screen.

(A yellow folder icon with a zipper on it) (Windows XP - Click on Start>My Documents to go to your My Documents folder)

In either place Double-click right on the file name. In the next window that comes up, go to the top Left, and click on Extract All Files.
In the small windows that come up click on Next, Next, and Finish.

Now you will have a small window in front of you with a Adobe PDF icon, and the file name to the right of it. L7VMM2 (2.0)

Double-click on L7VMM2 (2.0)

You are now looking at the Motherboard Manual for your eMachines C1641 Desktop computer. (ECS L7VMM2 v2.0)

Page 13 shows you the factory settings for the Jumpers.

Have any more questions? Just come back and state them.

Brothet HL-1870N gives Error E50

Hi,
For the Brother HL-1850/1870N printers, clearing the "Service Call Error E50" in the LED display simply requires depressing the "Go" and "Set" buttons simultaneously while turning on the power. Continue to depress the "Go" and "Set" buttons until the LED display shows "Go Test Mode". Release the "Go" and "Set" buttons, the depress the only "Go" button again and the printer will start normally.

If problem persists, let me know.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I need a service manual for the Dimage z2 Digital camera

Hi,

Right, this is the info that you need. To remove and replace the battery door you need to follow 15 steps in the correct order, they are:

Remove the two screws (above lens) that hold on the flash cover.
Remove the flash cover
Remove the three screws on the view finder cover
Remove the view finder cover
Remove the two screws on the side of the battery compartment
Remove the two screws in the middle of the base of the camera
Remove the sliding cover on the left hand side of the lens
Remove the single screw on the left hand (curved) part of the camera case
Remove the single screw on the bottom left hand side of the casing
Remove the trim piece on the right of the camera next to the lens, the top has a sticky pad under it so will be difficult to lift up.
Remove the screw behind the trim plate
Remove the back casing

The flap should now be replaceable, if you do not feel comfortable with this then get a professional shop to do it.
