If the fridge is cooling down, that means that compressor is working.
If the fridge cool down, then the compressor does not start again, then defective parts may be digital temperature control, or temperature sensor, also have a look at compressor capacitor.
If the fridge instead comes on, keep cooling for few days or weeks, then stop cooling, and you have to defrost to have it working again, then you have a faulty defrost system.
The defrost heating system is located behind fridge firewall, it is composed by heating element , fan and defrost thermostat. The heater is tested reading Ohms at its contacts.
