Check the memory density..,, or check the specs of your motherboard and it should match to your RAMs specs.... it doesnt mean that if a RAM fits the board then its compatible,, there could be some attributes which do not match....

Does your new 2x 512mb the same specs and brand? if the same then try to uninstall then exchange slot location of both ddr and make sure you have inserted these firmly with the lock snaps. then power on after installation

Eventhough i am a newbie in this forum, I have already experienced the same problem a while ago in my pc..

The solution is that you have to check that the two memory stick that you have connected is compatible to each other. That is in terms of brand and I see that the 400 MHz (im not sure) is the same so it should work. The one thing that you have to check is the compatibility issue of the two brand.

If they have the same brand, I guess you also have to check if your motherboard support that memory size.

Hope to solve the problem youre having

Upgrade ECS FSB800 memory from 1 GB to 2 GB wont work

This board will support up to 2gb as shown below extacted from the website product page.Don't forget that if you have ddr 333 memory installed originally, you can only add the same clock speed memory, i.e. ddr 333. If you add ddr333 and ddr400 you will have problems as the clock speeds do not match. If you are matching clock speeds, the try bootin the system with the new piece of memory on its own to see if there is a problem with that stick, trial an error of both sticks individually, will give a positive result

MEMORY ecs_buttom_03.gif Single-channel DDR memory architecture ecs_buttom_03.gif 2 x 184-pin DDR DIMM socket support up to 2 GB ecs_buttom_03.gif Support DDR400/333 DDR SDRAM

No, DDR400 is just DDR RAM. DDR2 is newer RAM and is not compatable with older systems that take DDR RAM. Sorry.
