Philips 55PP9352 Rear Projection, no picture or sound. When the power button is pressed the red indicator light comes on and there is a chirping sound coming from the back. The convergence chips (STK392-120) have been replaced along with a couple of other components. I have read from other experts on this site that it could be the flyback transformer or the Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT). Where are these two parts located and how can I test them. The tech who did the prior work wants more money for this fix. I want to know if I can save some money this trip.

Red power light on chirping beeping sound

Hello miko_alexand,

That problem indicates that the Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT)is beginning to malfunction. I would suggest that if you have a background in electronics that you do the following:

1) unplug and open the back of the set

2) look for the HOT and locate the Collector, Base and Emitter of the transistor and using your multimeter set to read resistance measure from the collector to the ground, it should read high almost infinite, red from base to ground it should read low and from emitter to ground it should read low.

3) if the HOT when read from the collector to ground reads low then you can bet that the HOT has a short circuit from collector to ground, and will have to be replaced.

4) In addition I would also perform a ring test on the Integrated High Voltage Transformer (IHVT).

This will tell you if the IHVT has suffered any damage from the HOT malfunctioning. You may end up having to replace both of the components.

If you do not have a background in electronics I would suggest that you take the TV to your local TV repair facility.

Thank you,

First check you connections to the circuit board some times the connections go bad from the deflection board to the signal board, if this is not the case the bottom advice may be of help.

Philips mod. # 60PP920217F

Hello bradahman,

The chirping sound is either a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor / Power FET (whichever one is used in this case) or the IHVT (Flyback Transformer) has developed a short in its windings. In ether case both components will have to be replaced. I would suggest you have a qualified TV technician come over and troubleshoot the problem and give you an estimate on the repair.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Philips 55PP9352 Rear Projection, no picture or sound, chirping.

This is a common problem with this model. The convergence circuits have shorted out causing the HVG to chirp.

Goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and get their "chirping" tv repair kit. It will fix the no audio+no video + chirping problem.

No sound no pic!

That is the DPTV310 chassis I believe the problem could be in the power supply input board or the large signal board. I have a source to locate those boards used if you would like me to post it. They sell parts cheap and all parts are in good working order. I have used their parts many times.

There are many other fuses on this board you need to check them all. May need a schematic.

Philips 55" rear proj. tv...55pp9352

Mine had the same problem. It turned out it was the power board that went out. The ic's might need to be replaced again, because they could get whacked out when the power board blows out.
