  • Norman Al-Anbar May 11, 2010

Does it work? or nor...first clean all filters, vacum all parts inside and out...check the fan movement, start the unit on fan only for about 15 min. then start the colling on lower seeting and see how that work...

Rv airconditioner trips breaker

Does it trip when fan only , or when compressor for cool cuts in? Sounds like capacitor perhaps . Get back to me with model number, and whether it's a ducted system, or blows out at ceiling assembly.

Breaker on r.v. air conditioner trips every 20 minutes

If your at an RV park you will alswys have that problem . I actually care around a 50 amp breaker to install in the middle of the night so I canhave AC in most places.. I don't know why they don't just put 50 amp service at all parks It really cost a lost of money to under size and alot of unhappy customers.. Sorry to let un in on their secrets but its just the way it is.. they might find me laying next to their disconnect one day .. Dead from touchinng a live bare wire..

Rooftop rv air conditioner doesn't work - what can I check myself without taking the rv to a repair place? will any air conditioner repair place do repairs or do I need to use an rv place?

I'm assuming when you say 'doesn't work' you mean 'nothing comes on,' i.e. the fan or the compressor.

If that's the case I would check for the AC breaker to see if it's tripped. Usually a 'tripped' breaker will look half on and half off, but sometimes it will be completely in the off positiion. Either way - it's usually because of a malfunction of the AC unit, so if that's the problem I would moniter it closely to see if it trips again. If it trips again in the immediate future I would then want to investigate the AC unit for the cause.

Also, some RV's have fuses in the AC circuit - so you could check and see if you have any fuses labled AC or AC control voltage. If so - you can usually - tell by looking whether they are bad or not. If that's not possible try replacing your 'AC labled fuse' with a new one of the same size.

I would also check your power supply (where the power cord to your RV plugs into) to make sure it is providing the proper voltage to your RV. Note: They also have breakers out on the box that you can reset. If they (breakers) appear ok - and you are at a RV park you could have the Park personel - check and to be sure the proper voltage is availible to your RV.

good luck!

I just replaces the small capasitor the fan runs on Low and High when I kick the thermostat down it clicks and turips breaker Dometic 57915C

If it wasn't tripping the breaker prior to replacing the capacitor, I would check my wiring again........also look for wires that may have loosened or got "pinched" while servicing/reassembling.

Air conditioner will trip breaker when trying to cycle back on

The compressor motor , once warm is grounding out due to wear and is going bad.Have the compressor replace while it is still clean is cheeper and easier that doing it after a burn out, which  will eventually happen,if the compressor is tripping the brreaker as I suspect..

579 series, 13.5K BTU Rooftop trips AC circuit breaker in hot weather...

Is your condensing unit located in a well ventilated area and have an ample space, atleast a foot, from the rooftop flooring? Just make a check that free flowing outside air properly ventilates the condensing unit specially on high ambient temperatures. Hope this would solve your problem

If the compressor is tripping the breaker, then its 1 of 2 things. First clean the coils and change the air filter. If the coils are dirty and/or the filter is clogged, it will make the compressor overload and the high amp draw will make the breaker trip. If this doesn't solve the problem, you need to check the compressor itself. remove the connections at the compressor, leaving only 3 posts on it. You will need a meter to check for continuity to all 3. They should all have continuity to each other. While there check the wires. Sometimes a burnt wire will come off and arc on something causing the breaker to trip, if you are lucky.
