There are a number of things that can cause this. # 1, a dirty air cleaner element. # 2 the high speed jet needs to be adjusted out. # 3 a bad spark plug. # 4 a vacuum in the gas tank. # 5 the chain brake is on. Hope this gives you some clues.

Homelite chain saw csp 3314 will start if i tip petrol in spark plug home but wont stay running

There could be a problem with either the fuel line going to the carb or the impulse line that's connected from the cylinder base that generates the 'pulsing' action that operates the diaphragm fuel pump. Today's alcohol rich gasoline has a tendency to weaken or even rot the rubber lines causing fuel delivery issues.

If you don't use your saw for extended periods, dump the tank empty then start the engine and run the residual gasoline from the line. This will help extend the life of the fuel lines.

Another possibility could be a blocked fuel filter, but that is remote.

How do you clean out a stopped up muffler on Homelite d3300 chainsaw

Hal:

I remove the muffler, and clean it with a spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol... make sure that the alcohol is completely evaporated before starting the saw with the muffler on it. You can also use carburetor cleaner. An old toothbrush comes in handy also.

I have a homelite 46cc, 20 in. chainsaw; either a UT10522 or a UT10526 model. It starts up fine but dies after I let it idle for about 5 seconds. I can still cut trees but I can't put it down withou

Sometimes what can happen is the springs in the clutch break. This causes the clutch shoes to fly out at low speed and can stall the engine.
If the engine dies suddenly, it could be the electrical system, possibly the plug, breaking down with the heat.
If the engine splutters and then stops it could be fuel starvation. This would be caused by a faulty diaphragm or blocked jets in the carburettor. Check the vent valve on the tank also. This is a check valve which lets air into the tank as the fuel leaves the tank.

I have a used Homelite d3300 UT10779 and no manual... need the gas oil ratio.

there normaly a 40-1 mix,,,i run mine in a 30-1 mix,, now i know your going to say "thats a bit ritch!" but my saw is 20 years old now? and i look at it this way,,,if you can see smoke you got oil?
if you run it on two stroke or engine oil you need to run it on the ritch side,,,so stick on 30-1

Homelite chainsaw won't stay running

Make sure you are using fresh fuel mix (50:1 ratio). Don't use boat motor oil in a saw--only modern synthetics made for saws. Always premix the oil and fuel thoroughly before adding to the saw. Check the fuel filter for plugging and the condition of all fuel lines, plus the primer bulb condition. Check all carburetor fasteners for tightness. Make sure the air filter and muffler are not plugged. If still no help, you may need to service the carburetor. For an excellent article on Walbro carburetors, go to: http://www.drystacked.com Pay particular attention to the placement of the lower diaphragm and the cover gasket--interchanging positions of them cause many headaches. Adjustment of the two jet screws require a special 'D' screwdriver which may necessitate a trip to a servicing dealer for adjustment. Hope this helps!

Homelite dying

Replace the diaphragms in your carb, that have hardened with age, it would be a good idea to replace the feul filter and line also.

Homelite d3300 chainaw has stopped lubbing itself

Oil System Plugged.
Remove the clutch cover, bar and chain. Clean the oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw.
If no a blunted, hooked piece of wire can be used to pull the hose in the oil tank out. I recommend the filter be replaced. Work your way through the linkage cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is probably left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly. GL

On a homelite chainsaw model d3300 i have all fuel lines lose and have forgotten location of where they go. What is the locations of the supply lines from the gas tank to the carburator?

The line that hooks up at the front of the carb (#17 in picture) goes to the fuel tank. the line that hooks up at the rear of the carb (#18 in picture) goes to the primer bulb. Hope this all helps. Let me know. thanks.
