Its easy! Unscrew top 2 bolts, and 1 bottom bolt. Then, taking a flat-head screwdriver, look for 3 or 4 slots on either side of seams of the tower. They are hard to see so make sure you have adequate lighting; twist the flat-head screwdriver sideways in each slot until they "pop". Start with the bottom slot, and when that pops, make sure to hold that section open until you pop the next slot, etc. The tower is then fully opened. Then unscrew the top part that holds the fan to the tower.( 2 screws). The bottom of the blade assembly is held to the motor by a set-screw. Loosen the screw until the blade assembly slides off the motor. You can now take the blade assembly off completely and wash in the sink. Also wash the 2 sides of the tower. Add a few drops of oil to the top bearing and the motor before re-assembling. It's really easy! Hope this helps- good luck

If the model is equipped with a fan, and the noise occurs even when not oscillating it must be a fan/blower motor. If it is a squeak. A squeal could be an electical component going bad which is always bad. I would definitely take some bottom drawer tools , ie. screwdrivers and WD-40 and oil that squeaking motor. Being a fan it goes through alot of air pollutants. That tends to build up on the shaft and can work its way into the bearing seal. Good luck.

SOURCE: how to dissamble to clean
I just used an air air compressor with a soft rubber tip and went at my two tower fans outside. It took maybe 10 minutes shooting air in from many different points but both fans now work as good as new. If it's been a couple of seasons like mine you'll be amazed at how much blows out.
