Re: Fprgot password to my Ipod 8gb.
Click "Start" Click "My computer" Switch to the classic view (if you're using Windows XP.) Click "Folder Options" Click the tab called "View" Check "Show hidden files or folders" If you also wish to view system files, Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"
Plug in your iPod. Wait for it to load completely. Open My Computer (or computer if on Vista). Make sure you can view hidden files. Go to iPod_control. Go to the folder named Device. If your iPod is locked, there will be a file _locked . Rename the file to _unlocked. Safely remove your iPod and it will be cleared.

You are going to need a computer with the latest version of iTunes on it So with the device plugged into your PC, iTunes open, if it shows up in iTunes eject it, or cancel the prompt to restore a device in recovery mode.
Hold down the Power button for 3 seconds
Without releasing the power button, also hold the Home button for 8-10 seconds
Without releasing the home button, release the power button and keep holding the Home button for About 20 seconds.
iTunes will detect an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode, let off button and set down device and hit RESTORE in iTunes.
You need to restore it with iTunes, but you can't restore an iPod While its Locked With a password, well in order to Force it to Restore you shud put it on Recovery Mode. Hold down the power and home keys down for about 10 seconds each while
plugged into iTunes. When the screen goes black, release the power
button but keep holding the home key until itunes says. We have
detected an itouch in recovery mode.
From there you can restore as normal via iTunes. and that will reset you configuration including Your Password. Thank you For Using Fixya. Good Luck.
The first way is you can connect the iPod to the computer it was originally configured on,but being your laptop died that will be impossible. If you don’t have access to the original computer or it just does not work, you can jump to the second method. The second way is the fix for any iPod problem, it is the classic “restore your iPod to factory settings.” That this will erase all data on your iPod and take you back to day one, but you can just add your music and data back to iPod from iTunes. Good Luck, I hope this helps

Sadly when you loose a password for an apple ipod you will have to connect the ipod to itunes and restore it. To do this connect the ipod to your computer and wait for it to show up in itunes. As soon as it shows up in itunes it will load to the summary page. You will want to click on the restore/update option and follow the on screen instruction. A restore is the only way to unlock it without the password. Hope this is helpful to you :)
put it in DFU mode while connected to the computer.
do this, hold the home and power buttons for 10 seconds and then
let go of the power but keep on holding the home for 10 secs. the
screen will be black and nothing will show up. go to itunes and click
on your ipod on the left. then click restore. this should work.
