Open the scanner cover then look for the screw on the four corners of the unit i think only four screw you can dismantle it. You have to use T10 screw. if you remove the screw,lift up the scanner gently to avoid destroying the flex cable of the scanner that is connected to the logic board.Good luck..

    that's the only way how you can separate the scanner from the printer,you can see the screw on top of the scanner, lift up the whole flatbed.

Not printing

When printing from the microsoft word document, make sure the printer selected is right. By that, i mean the default printer selected in the printers icon under the control panel should be HP OfficeJet 6100 series and not HP OfficeJet 6100 fax.
So the reason why this message comes up " scanner failure ". is you are either selecting a wrong printer when printing from microsoft word document or probably the printer port is not selected right.

To check the printer port.
Click on start-->control panel-->printer & faxes-->right click on HP OfficeJet 6100 series--> select properties-->Select the top tab called ports-->
Check the ports selected here.
If you have a USB connected printer it should be your printer model with USB settings.
If you have a wireless connected printer it should be your printer model with wireless settings like IP address.

6110 officejet, power light blinks. display says "warming up" continuously?

Pls run the attached file to resolve the issue.

Description:
These all-in-one product firmware updates will resolve issues with receiving faxes, warming-up, certain printing issues and memory full messages with the HP OfficeJet 6100 series products.

Warming-up - Under certain circumstances when the all-in-one will display "warming up" indefinitely after pressing one of the "Copy" or "Scan" buttons
After downloading and installing this firmware update, the software will determine if the hp all-in-one would benefit from this firmware update and inform you of the results.

Installation Instructions :
Download the file "HpAiOFWUpdate2_2.exe" via http://www.printer-drivers.com/drivers/246/246484.htm to a local hard drive. Make note where (in which folder) the file gets copied.
The hp all-in-one software for the OfficeJet 6100 series must be installed on your PC before installing this firmware update. The OfficeJet 6100 series must also be connected to your PC and turned on before proceeding.

Locate the file "HpAiOFWUpdate2_2.exe" on your hard drive and double-click the file to install the firmware update.

I tried to install printer cd HP officejet 6100 series to my new Vista computer but it won't work. What shall I do?

Your printer will not work with the CD that you installed. Here's what you need to do.

First uninstall the software you installed. There should be a shortcut in Start>All Programs>HP

You should also go to Start>Control Panel>Printers and see if there is a printer icon for the 6100. If not, close the control panel. If there is, right click on it and select Delete. Close the control panel.

Reboot the computer.

HP does not support your printer with full feature software, but have stated on their support page that Vista does have a driver for it. There are workarounds for scanning and importing and viewing memory card pics.

Anyway, make sure the USB cable is NOT connected. Power on the printer. Plug the USB cable in. The software should install and give you a "Devices are ready to use" notification.

For additional info, see the 6100 Support Page

Any additional help, please comment back.

Hi debprince45, there is no need for you to buy the CD. You can download it for free from HP. Click on the link below;
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=238398

Make sure your HP 6100 is connected to the computer & power for the printer is connected. Power on the printer. Click on the link;
Automatically check to see if you have the latest software and drivers
Follow the on screen instructions. You'll need to allow HP to check your system. HP will scan your system & download & install the most up to date software for your HP printer automatically.

Good luck debprince45!
