Question about Apple iPod - Digital player - HD 80 GB - AAC, MP3 - white MP3 Player

1 Answer

I have an ipod, 80 gb, that stopped working. Indications are: no screen lighting, no response. I have tried to recharge the battery with the ac charger and with the computer port. No luck. Since I paid $275, I expect to last more than one year! Give me your best advice on this problem. Or give me an address to send the ipod for repairs. gf.forbes@yahoo.com

2nd gen ipod shuffle non-responsive

Step 1:
Like all electronic devices, iPods sometimes freeze and become unresponsive. Sometimes iPods lock up when they're dropped on the ground or come in contact with water, but less destructive accidents may also cause them to stop working. All versions of the iPod have a way to reset their hardware should they stop playing music or refuse to turn off.

Check the "Hold" switch on the top case of your iPod to be sure it isn't activated. An iPod will appear frozen and unresponsive if this feature is activated. A lock symbol will appear on your iPod's screen if it is in Hold mode. Switch the "Hold" button on and off once. Place one finger on the "Menu" button and another on the center button. Press both buttons at the same time and hold them for up to 8 seconds. Release the "Menu" and center buttons once the Apple logo appears on your iPod's screen. Try releasing the buttons and pressing and holding them a second time if the logo does not appear, as it can sometimes take several tries to reset a severely frozen iPod. Press and hold the top button and the center "Home" button on a frozen and unresponsive iPod touch to reset it. Hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds and wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen, then release the buttons. Connect your iPod to its powerblock or a computer if it is still frozen. Wait 5 minutes and then try to reset it. Sometimes an iPod can appear frozen when its battery runs out and just needs a few minutes of power to start working again.

IPod classic stopped working. No response at all. It was working fine one day and the next day, nothing.

batterys are loose with intermittent power to thermostat circuit board place a tightly folded aluminum foil to about a 1/4inch square and place it between or at either end of the AA batteries. This tightens the connection and makes for a better contact.

Will not charge or turn on

Plug your Ipod into your computer. Hold down both the Menu Button (on/off button) and the center button( just below the screen) for 15-30 seconds. You should see the Apple sign after that time. Mine died and was revived this way.

Battery on my Ipod classic completely died and now wont work

The first thing to try is an ipod reset. Here are the instructions from apple on how to do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320

If the battery is truly dead, they are pretty easy to replace. Same with the hard drive. Batteries go for about $8 including shipping on ebay, and in most cases come with instructions on replacing. One word of caution, when you pry the 2 halves of your ipod apart, there is a small ribbon cable on the top side. Try not to damage that :D

If you try to recharge and there is no screen response, even a "recharging battery", you'll have to send it in to get it serviced.

My 80 GB ipod got wet i got it total dry and it

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

This means that the battery had shorted out and its already bad. You need to replace the battery. You can buy replacement battery for your ipod from ebay. its around $10-$15.

Have a great day.

When plugged in, the ipod batteries go low immediately.

The JBL On Stage Micro is supposed to disable recharging of the iPod when running off AAA batteries to avoid draining them, but sometimes this setting gets stuck even when the unit is plugged in through the AC adapter. The workaround that I found is pulling out and reconnecting the iPod to the Onstage Micro (while both are powered on) and then unplugging and reconnecting the AC adapter. Sometimes you have to repeat this process, but the iPod should start recharging after that. I tried this on different versions of the iPod nano and this seems to work.

IPod 30 GB stopped working

Start with these five simple solutions: Reset, retry, restart, reinstall, or restore

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod.five_rs/

If there is no effect, then you have to contact apple, or your dealer for repairs, becouse a part is most likely damaged.

If you need more assistance let me know. Good luck.
