I have a DX 94 HP galaxy not sure where all the switches need to be to set my antenna

The switches have no effect on antenna setup. Are you in AM or SSB? Set you meter to SWR FWD, key up an watch for reading. Then switch to REF, an see reading. If you are 1.1.3 or so on forward you are ok. If not try to get it around there. Even 1.1.5 is ok. Forward an an reflected on SWR, power shows power out.

Galaxy949 no mod no variable power but tx ok keys 5 watts

did you try VR-16. How do you know if tx is ok if there is no modulation.Have you put a watt meter to it ,also a modulation meter..I know you put a power meter to it because you said it keys 5 watts. Do all the simple things first then procede to the harder things like diodes resistors and caps. If you have to touch a can don't do it unless you know what the can operates and then only turn it a hair at a time.

My zenith sentry tv has a double image on the words that come on screen. The people are clear but all wording has double images

Hello
Double images are technically called Ghosts, occures due to the setting and direction on the antena. You have to reorient your antena, in such a way that Ghosts disappeares from your screen. The reson for this fault is not with the TV, as it gets a direct transmission signal, and a reflected signal of the same, reflected from near or far objects, like tall buldings, hills and so on. The signals, the orginal and the reflected, will be processed by the TVs internal ciiruit, and the first will appear as strong picture, followed by the second, a weak picture, will be seemed as an image of the first one, just on the right side [view point] of your TV.
You just adjust the position and height of your antena, looking the picture, where there is minimum Ghost level is. No other repair should be done to your TV, as it is perfect, and you just give it only direct signal path. OK.

Trying to install channels on goodmans ld1962d. Not sure what active antenna is. No channels are found when we have aerial in or out.

check for antena cable plug condition, normaly 80% of low quality of antena signal, is conection on antena plug (inside)

1st open antena plug, check for condition/connection of cable.
2nd check for each part of cable well connected, and no wires crossed on middle cable
3rd check same to the other end of cable.
4rd check the signal on diferent tvs around house (if available)

if this general you dont have aerial signal in your house, check for your TV provider (cable) to test your arial signal.(Normaly this maybe a cable broken outside house).

Instructions for a swr meter/cb radio

An SWR meter is used to see how well your antenna is matched to your transmitter output, just like using the correct speakers with an amplifier.

There are usually two readings. FORWARD and REFLECT
or FWD and REFL

Firstly, make sure the antenna selector is in the correct position and set for the antenna you are using.

Next, switch your meter to FWD (FORWARD). Switch your transmitter to low power and press the microphone key.

Next, adjust the CAL knob for the maximum power reading, but not so far that the meter exceeds maximum!

Keep the microphone key pressed and switch to REFL (REFLECT). If your antenna is matched, the meter should now give a low reading. If the reading is very high, you must match your antenna by making adjustments or by using a matching unit.

A poor match will mean a poor signal. A very poor match can damage your transmitter and cause interference.

When you have a good FORWARD reading and a low REFLECT reading, your system will be reasonably matched and you can then use higher power. Remember that you will need to reduce the CAL knob to a lower setting when running high power.
