Hi, if some letters work and some do not, a software driver will not make the other letters work. The keyboard/connection is damaged.

Cursor/text keeps jumping about so i write in between words without intending too

First make sure your hand doesn't touch the laptop touch pad if you are using laptop . Then remove all temp files from computer. For that press windows key +R key so you can see run type in run '%temp%" without '" then press enter then remove all temp files type in run "prefetch" without "' then remove all prefetch files. Type in run "chkdsk /r' without "" then press enter then press 'y" then restart it then it will fix and recovers error on harddrive, also make sure there is not any jammed key on keyboard . Scan computer with updated antivirus. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Eee pc r101 keyboard not working properly. Some of the keys won't type the correct letters and type the function letter or symbol instead or just random numbers. Also the touch pad and mouse click is...

The keyboard takes a lot of abuse and as durable as it is, they will eventually wear out. It is a very inexpensive part to replace and does not require a lot of skill. The fact that the touch pad is acting up could indicate that they are interconnected. I would replace both. The Touch pad is a more involved part to replace and I would suggest you get some help or pay to have it replaced.

You can order them off of sites like eBay, then watch a YouTube video on how to do it.

Cant delete leters quickly

If you are like me when you hold a key down you want the repeat rate to be as quick as possible. I hate holding down the left arrow to scroll to the end of a line and watching the cursor run like a slug across the screen. You can alter the keyboard repeat rate in the Control Panel for the Keyboard but unfortunately the control panel will only let you alter the speed to a maximum of setting of 30. This is way too slow for me and probably most of you as well. If you have read this far you are probably by now wondering if there is anything you can do about it, well there is read on! Backup your registry and open up reg edit: TYPE REG EDIT INTO RUN BOX
  • Open up the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard Section of the registry.
  • Double click on the KeyboardSpeed Value in the right hand panel.
  • Change the value to something respectable like 80
  • Click OK
  • Close RegEdit
Now goto your favourite program

My backspace only deletes one leter at a time

So does mine....if you want to delete entire sentences or paragraphs, click and hold your mouse left button and slide the cursor across what you want to delete...when it is highlighted, either just type over it or hit the delete key.

Keyboard problem- cursor keeps jumping around when I'm typing

You may be inadvertently touching the touch pad with the side of your hand or fingers as you type OR the touch pad itself is bad and needs replacement.
