Sounds like the hard drive in the Lacie has fauled.
To test the hard drive, remove it and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If it deosn't detect it as an external drive and you connot open folders and files then it is faulty.
You can install a new hard drive in the Lacie and then format in FAT32.

It is making a loud clicking and beeping noise and it won't mount to my macbook.

Loud clicking usually means that the device has failed mechanically. You could try connecting it to another computer, but it's most likely a dead drive. Sorry for the bad news. Steve.

We have a few of these Lacie Design by F.A. Porsche 500GB drives in our office. Our editor's drive stop working this morning (was fine the day before) and had all her files backed up from the last three years on it and was making a very soft clicking sound. After taking the whole thing apart and trying drive in another F.A. Porsche caddy with no success, we tried a different power supply hey presto it started up no problems. My drive that suddenly stop working earlier in the year we tried a power supply from a external Lacie DVD Writer and again drive is working. Just to make sure tried the original power supply and would not mount. So if your hard drive stops working it maybe the power supply rather the the hard drive.

Lacie external hd designed by f.a. porsch won't mount

I am sad to say that it's probable that this drive has failed. But if there is critical information on it, please unplug and discontinue use immediately.

You do stand a chance of recovering data if the drive has failed, but you lessen those chances as you continue to try to use it.

Definitely take this drive to a qualified repair outlet who can help with data recover if you need the information off of the drive.

Lacie not working

Does your drive make any unusual sounds like any of these: http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php ?
If yes then you got a problem - it's something mechanical with the heads.
If it sounds normal or doesn't spin up at all - try to connect it to another computer and if still no go - remove the internal drive from enclosure and connect directly to PC via SATA port.

Lacie 120GB dropped

If you open it up you will see that the drive is a regular computer drive. You should be able to plug it into a computer as a secondary drive and try to get the data off. But if it's clicking and making noises there may be no hope. Sorry!

Lacie 250gig Designed by F.A Porche not working!

A ticking hard drive is usually a toasted hard drive.
Sorry for the bad news.

BUT, to be sure it's not the power supply or the case in any way:
What I'd do is remove the drive from the case, download the proper diagnostic file from whoever made that drive. Plug the drive into a computer (internally) boot from the diagnostic disk and run the diagnostic test.

If it's just continually clicking at that point, you're done, it's gone.

NO device decteted

Lacie Porsche drives in my experience or infamous for not having the most durable bridge boards. The bridge board is a chip that has a chipset on it which take the SATA or PATA connection and send it to the USB and or Firewire ports on the enclosure. If the drive is powered up, you should get a small red or orange light on the front. When connected to either mac or pc ( porsches are MS_DOS formatted out the box ), if it does not mount or does not appear in DISK UTILTY, then it is a high probability that the enclosure/bridge board has failed and the drive ( if not making grinding, buzzing, clicking or beeping sounds) will have to be extracted and placed into a more stable enclosure. Hope this helps.

If your hard drive is equiped with a buzzer ... you can try to find that and remove it to stop hering the beep. Let us see how to find buzzer... The buzzer is round in shape, but not globe-like. it works like a small speaker. Usually it looks like a button cell or something like a black bolt. Caution; your hard disk may not have a buzzer...when it shakes, something on the hard disk may be getting scratched continuesly. This makes a beeping sound. If this is the case better we ignore it. If we try to lubriacte this will cause the drive to malfuction.
