Have you tried to reset it you can do this by holding in the reset button at the back for at least 30 seconds, you will find it al the back or underneath the router

Xbox settings have a setting for automatic. This is the best setting because you don't have to enter anything. It is all automatic.
On the router, make sure Nat type says open.

The problem in this scenario is entirely not NAT issue . To overcome the issue open some of the port ports viz 80,3074 for tcp/udp on the router and enter the ip address on the router which is the ip you have for the x-box and then try the connection test.

Cant create game server due to NAT settings

Make sure that you are using 1:1 NAT and not dynamic NAT, but more likely its a configuration issue. Some game servers like private WoW servers or Armagetron work better when the configuration file is setup with the computers IP and not "localhost" which is technically and not Nat'd.

Changing nat on xbox live

I had this issue, and solved it recently. Everyone on the internet will tell you to forward ports, or disable the NAT setting, but these never worked for me. As I was about to give up and buy a new router, as a last resort I decided to call tech support. In about 3 minutes they fixed my problem, and it is much easier then port forwarding.

-First go into your 360 network settings and find its mac address.
-In the router settings move to the LAN tab.
-Then go to "dhcp leases".
-Under "current dhcp leases" your 360 should be listed (match the mac address)
-Make a note of the IP address listed for the 360, then delete that lease.
-Now Reserve a new IP address, enter in the MAC address and IP address you wrote down for the 360.
-Check the bypass firewall option (and give it a name if you want) and then add the new entry.
-On the same page, move up to "DMZ Host" find your new entry and click "apply"
-Click the option to reboot your SBG900, then restart your 360, and the NAT should be open.

I hope this helps, if I described it correctly it should be much easier then port forwarding, and more importantly, it should work.

How do i set my Netgear Routers NAT type to open for playing xbox 360 games?

Ok in order to help you resolve this issue I need more information. Is this a newly setup router? Did you setup any type of security? WEP OR WPA these are encryption tools that allow only you to get onto your network.
