Question about Belkin N1 Vision Wireless Router

1 Answer

My Belkin N1 (F5D8232 ver.1.0) reset's randomly

My Belkin N1 (F5D8232 ver.1.0) always reset's it's self from time to time. I try disabling the "UpNp" feature as requested by others Tech help web site's to no avail.

I ruled out every other possible feature that can contribute to the random resets, all but one; "Primary NTP Sever & Back up NTP Server" which I don't know if they are the right settings by default for my country (Puerto Rico)

Please help me!.. this is incredibly annoying...
(the router keeps working, but all the settings are reset to factory settings including set up)

Thanks for clarification on NTP servers!...

The firmware version is : F5D8232-4_WW_1.00.15
    Boot version: 1.02
    Hardware: F5D8232-4 v1000

I have tried flashing the firmware many times with firmware updates from Belkin which are: "1.3/1.8/1.11/1.15" successfully, but it keeps resetting itself no matter what firmware I try!.

I also noted that wen it happens the router is very hot!.... Don't know why there is a Belkin N1 router with a hardware "2000" version , myb that's a common problem with hardware on Belkin N1 "1000" version.

It make sense that there are hardware problems with version "1000" because the version "2000" is the same router.

What version is the firmware your router is running? You can find this out by opening a web browser and typing in the ip address of your router in the address bar. IEhttp://192.168.1.1 Once you login to the router, the status page will display the firmware version. The primary and secondary NTP servers simply provide your router with the correct time and date so they should not be the cause of the problem.

How many pc's, laptop's & printer's can i link up to belkin n1 vision wireless router model f5d8232-4

You can uplink a fairly good number of PCs or laptops with Belkin N1 as it supports high bandwidth. Keep in mind that upon adding every new PC, the overall bandwidth for the other PCs is reduced. If the PCs/ laptops do not require much bandwidth, you can connect / add more PCs to the network.
Generally, I have uplinked upto 10-15 clients to one router and the network worked just fine. It all depends upon the network environment and the bandwidth usage by each client PC. If the PCs are using just email and simple internet browsing (and remain idle for most of the time), you can add more clients to your network as not all the systems consume network resources at the same time.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Open your web browser and type the router IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter, there should be an option there.

Belkin N1 Vision (Part # F5D8232-4) and VPN problem

I hade the same problem with mv Cisco VPN v5.0 and Belkin N1 router (F5D8231-4 v4...). I could only solve the problem with a new firmware (f5d8231-4 ww v4.00.18 at http://www.belkin.com/uk/support/article/?lid=enu&pid=F5D8231uk4&aid=9419&scid=0 ). I think this is a general firmware issue at Belkin. Good luck.
