HP Inkjet 460 series printer: blinking pwr and error (?) lghts

I read your solution (re-install drivers), which I am very happy to find and also to try. Can I download the drivers online? Im not sure I still have my software disk :( Thanks, tmack_5_0

I just received your solution #3 to my 460 printer. I believe your right about the hardware being the problem. I had a paper jam about a week ago, but as far as I can readily see, the paper is completely gone.

It is indeed the "resume" button (orange blinking) and "power" button (green blinking), not an 'error' button-- you were right. The two ink indicators are orange-solid.

I would take my ink cartridges out, but they are all the way to the left side, and therefore I can't get them to pop out. I don't want to force them to the middle/right, but I can't seem to make them move on their own...

The "cancel" button finally allowed my ink cartridges to move to the correct spot to remove/reseat them; that didn't seem to be a problem.

Looking into the printer as best I can, I cannot see any paper, lint, etc. inside that would be causing a 'jam'...

My "resume" button alone does absolutely nothing.

OK, so I just powered the freaking thing off and back on for oh, maybe the 20th time, and it just went back to normal.

I really appreciate all your help; I can't thank you enough for helping me to avoid HP customer assistance!!

Go to HP's website, look under printers. Locate your printer type/model (HP deskjet 460c.....), look for download tab, and it should have the driver. Just make sure your downloading the right driver for your computer/laptop.

Meaning make sure you download the XP driver for your XP laptop/computer. Or Vista driver for your Vista laptop/computer.

The title of your question "HP Inkjet 460 series printer: blinking pwr and error ?" makes me think you're not certain if the printer has an error indicator.

It would be helpful if you still have the users manual and are able to positively identify the lights.

If the lights that are flashing are the power light and the "resume" light this would indicate you have a paper jam or or the print cartridges are not seated properly.

The resume button is the one that resembles a piece of paper with an arrow pointing down in the middle of it.

Turn off the power, and look to see if there is a piece of paper jammed inside the printer anywhere. Even a small torn piece of paper can cause an error condition.

Remove the print cartridges and turn them around so you can see what resembles a circuit board. Check to make sure the protective cover has been removed from the print cartridges. Once you've done this, install the print cartridges again and turn the power back on to see if the problem has been resolved.

In nearly all cases, flashing lights on a printer indicate a problem with the hardware itself which has nothing to do with the printer driver.

All lights are blinking - screen says Self-Test and nothing is printing. I already downloaded a driver and install it fine

disconnect the printer and turn the pwr off.
hold the power button for one min and then release.
reconnect the printer and turn it on..
that should work . if it doesnot work then check the cartridges are fixed properly or not//
take the crt and refix it again properly
