Question about GE Refrigerators

GSSs5JEMC won't get cold

I saw the post about the control board. I thought I saw a small dark spot on a component on the board. I touched a hewat sink next to it and felt an electric current. Do you think that's it? How do you check the compressor relay? Need a solution fast!!! thanks

Thanks. The compressor was not running. It's got to be the board. Wiggled it a little, saw a little spark and the compressor started! I hope it lasts til morning!

Some of those heat sinks are live, don't touch. :) Do you know if the compressor is trying to start at all? do you hear any clicking noise or is the compressor warm/hot to the touch?

Cool, Sounds like a loose connection or a weak solder point on the board. Did you wiggle that heat sink or a connector. Just make sure all the connectors are firmly in place and not loose, especially the ones that provide power to the compressor. Board may have to be replace if a component is loose...or you can try to resolder if your comfortable doing that kind of stuff.

Testimonial: "I just loosened the board from the top two mount pins. It's running now, so I'll wait until morning to take it all the way out and try to solder it."

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

How to fix dark spot on screen?

If the dark spot is a soft-edged horizontal band all the way across the set, you have a fading Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL tube). Look for flickering or a pink tint in this area when you turn on the set - if you see either of these symptoms that confirms the tube is worn out. (The dark band will coincide with a pair of pink and white or blue and white high voltage wires going to the edge of the panel assembly.) Replacement requires considerable soldering skill; you have to make a small wire connection to the leads on the ends of the tube, and you can't heat the connection for more than 3 seconds or you ruin the new tube.

If you have an irregular (roughly circular or elliptical) soft-edged dark blotch, you may have an unrepairable* problem with the LCD panel, or there is an irregularity in the reflector sheet in the back of the panel. You may be able to cheat by removing the back of the panel and placing a spacer behind the reflector sheet so you get a little more light through the dark spot - but this may cause shading of the surrounding area. Be careful not to detach the circuit board from the edge of the panel, and avoid touching the electronic circuitry - it's vulnerable to static electricity damage from your fingers.

If the dark spot has hard edges (the pixels right next to it are working normally) and is completely black, the problem may be in the electronics, or it could be broken pixels in the panel (those are not repairable). You would have to provide some detail on the shape so we can figure out where to look.

*Sometimes uneven lighting as a result of a panel fault can be remedied by gently massaging the face of the screen to redistribute the liquid crystal material, but the success rate is low. You can easily make things worse, but if you can't stand it the way it is, you haven't lost anything but some time.

Haier RTC1700ss digital display doesn't work. Beeps when plugging in but no functions

Here are a few things you shoul look at and try to correct to make your oven work properly

Make sure the electric oven is plugged in properly.

Check that door closes completely and its latch is aligned.

Check that interlock switch in door works properly (required for activating oven).

There might be a blown fuse, replace blown fuse if it's accessible, or contact a service technician.

Inspect plastic coupling beneath tray.

Check ring and roller assembly for misalignment or debris.

Make sure that tray is sitting properly on turning mechanism.

If carousel motor is broken, contact a service technician

Make sure there's no aluminum foil or metal trim on dishware.

Food residue or burned spots can cause electrical arcing. Clean chamber thoroughly. Replace wave-guide cover if burned or carbonized.

Sand away burn spots, and smooth rough metal edges.

Touch up spots with microwave interior paint if necessary.

If chamber has burn holes, contact a service technician.

If you hear an unusual buzzing noise, the magnetron (the component that actually generates the microwaves) or other electronic module may be broken. This is not easily fixed; contact a service technician.

Inspect the power and deflection board for hot spots, areas on the pcb that have been discolored (dark brown)due to heat caused by cold solder joints which in turn will cause the circuit to draw more amperage resulting in even more heat.Heat is the main culprit of component failure in all electronics. If you find any hot spots, inspect the area right underneath it on the solder side of the board and look for loose solder connections or solder that appears to be desintegrating or breaking down(eroding),if you do you will need to resolder the connections, you will need a soldering iron and a roll of solder to do the job.If that is not the case then replace the power supply module\board.Good Luck

You probably have a bad connection either on the control circuit board (which we repair), the line filter board, or one of the thermostats.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

In the Sony TV a dark display is generally a bad picture tube. I have seen many of these and thought I could correct it with a deflection repair. I would next put the main board in another TV and saw that the board was just fine. The TV had a good picture. You can bet you have a picture tube that is bad!

GSS25JEMC won't get cold

If the compressor doesn't run , but the fan next to it does , then the board is the problem . If you can remove the board , and turn it over , look under the small black boxes , but on the soldered side , and you should see a spot where the solder has heated and moved away from the small terminal . "Resolder" this spot , and reinstall the board and the compressor should come on .

F11 flashing kenmore he washer

The F11 error code indicates a serial communication failure. This happens when the 2 main control boards are unable to communicate with each other. This is either caused by a loose wiring harness connection or one of the control boards is defective. Good luck and please rate FixYa!
