Question about Sabrent PCI Video Card

3 Answers

I have a Sabernt PCI video card and I am running vista-64bit. I downloaded and installed the drivers from the website, but whenever I try to scan for channels I get none. That or I get the blue screen of death and my computer shuts down. I get digital cable through my building by just connecting the coax to the wall. What do I need to do to actually see channels? Thanks for your help,

I have been trying Windows Media Center and the software that came with it, BlazeDTV. When I use the Blaze app to scan channels is when the computer dies. Also, the device manager recognizes card.

If I want to reinstall media center, what do I need to do in order to do that?

Well, I still haven't been able to figure out how to re-install Windows Media Center like you suggested. I feel like it can't be that difficult, but for some reason I haven't been able to do it yet. To your second point though, the card is secure in its slot and there are no pins showing.

On a different note, I tried using the "Add Hardware" tool in the control panel a couple different ways without any luck.
    - First I selected the device and inserted the cd that came with. I recieved an error message saying the driver software was not intended for this platform. When I bought it, it said it was vista ready, and the website provides 64bit driver downloads, so I would assume that this can't be right. It's defiantly possible that I am wrong, though.
    - Then, I again selected the device and checked for drivers in my computer. The driver I downloaded (for the 64 bit) appeared and installed, again. When finished, there was an error saying that the drivers installed properly, but the device cannot start (code 10)

Finally, I just noticed that although the device manager recognizes the device, it is labeled differently than I would expect.
    - It appears as "Auvitek ATSC and NTSC Capture Device"
    - I would expect something about Saberent something something (here is the link to the product page on tiger so you can confirm what I am talking about. , when I first bought it there were less reviews, now it kind of looks like probably should have picked a different card all together)

Well thanks again for your help,
If you need any clarifications I'll be happy to try to provide better details,

I'm fairly certain I have the right driver.

I downloaded it directly from the Sabrent site, , and it was the one for TV-ATSC 64bit.

I haven't tried using the microsft update though, I'll let you know how that goes,

Whenever you get bluescreen of death, its the issue with the driver you were using leading to the Crash or May be due to the RAM ISSUES, think you wont be having the RAM issue, Beacuse you system crases only , when you scan for channel so this is direct issue with the windows drivers..

The solution for your issue

STEP 1: try performating the windows update and update yu Vista to fix the latest Bugs,

STEP 2: Try updating the Audio driver to lattest vesion beacuse since the PCI card directly interacts with audio driver this could lead to the crash

STEP 3: Try updating the Video driver to the latest version and install the latest fix of DirectX due to the same as explained in previous statement

STEP 4: Check whehter you have downloaded for the Correct version of PCI card drivers, and try getting the latest driver from the company website rather than 3rd party website

IF nothing works, you have to wait for the comapny to release the crash free version of driver..

THink when you buy the card they would have developed for XP and they may be still in the process of deveoping and for temp puprpose they may lauched the BETA version of driver, which has cause this crash

Hope this helps you

This seems to be a driver problem. Are you sure you have the 64Bit driver?
On the Microsoft compatibility website the status is unknown.
Try updating the driver using the microsoft update.
Without the exact driver, unfortunately, there is no way you can use it with windows 64Bit.
However it will work with 32Bit windows.

What are you using for a program? Windows Media Center? Great program but you may need to reinstall program, make sure it is allowed through firewall, Once downloaded drivers, double-click to install them, then restart computer. Use add hardware wizard to have pc correctly recognize the pci

The ONLY way to get media center is to use windows disc. Make sure pci and software is compatible for 64 bit. If it is recognized by device manager, that is a good sign. Is is completely installed? No pins are showing?

Try downloading the latest drivers from AMD's website, found here:

You can use AMD's auto detect program to find the best match.

If you're using a video card plugged into the PCI-E slot to display your graphics, I'd recommend disabling the onboard video by accessing your computers BIOS/EFI by pressing the right Function key on startup. If the graphics card you're using is AMD, the above link will also find the correct driver to use with it.

If it's a Nvidia based card, try their site for drivers, located here:

Hope this helps!

Vista Drivers complete work in Windows 7

Name: Philips SAA713X, Hybrid Capture Device
Device ID: PCI\VEN_1131&DEV_7133&SUBSYS_00001131&REV_D1\4&2C30955E&0&10F0

Install Intructions:

First go into Add Remove Programs in Control Panel and remove any reference to
Tv Terminator 7131 like Quick TV,PVR-Plus and drivers and Utilities.
Go to device manager and right click on any driver for the 7131 and
choose uninstall. When you click uninstall, also check DELETE DRIVER so it
can completely remove drivers. If you only see Unknown Multimedia device or
similar, uninstall that and delete driver also.
How to install:
1. When you first get the Found New Hardware Wizard, click Cancel.

2. Then extract the files first, before using them. Run CheckOS in "Run as Administrator" to
install driver. Make sure you extract the files first before running or else
they won't work. Even though you can see all the files after you download,
you need to extract the files first.

4. Right click on the PVR-Plus Aplication icon in: "C\Program Files\KWorld Multimedia"
and all folders inside, see all applications and go to Properties. Go to Compatibility mode TAB and
then put a check mark next to RUN This Program in Compatibility Mode.
Then choose Windows XP SP2 as the program to run in compatibility mode.

Having trouble with a sony vaio vgc-rb50 pci driver. I looked at the solutions below, but whenever I run the setup it says its installed, however the prompts in device manager remain the same..

From with in device manager right click on the driver and click uninstall and then without reboot try to install new one. make sure it is compatible with the OS ie. 64bit vs 32 bit. If it is vista 64bit good luck. :-)
