Go into the menu and into the video options. there should be an option for black and white or color. if there isn't, reset the settings to factory default.

SHARP NOTEVISION XG-C50X LCD PROJECTOR: Does this work for laptop presentations as well as DVD projections

Hi there, Sharp makes light and compact projectors with low fan noise. Set the projector up in areas subject to minimal humidity and dust to avoid having to clean the lens too often. Remember that colors will get washed out if the screen is in direct sunlight. Learn a few troubleshooting techniques to get the most out of this work horse projector.

No Pictures, Sound or the Projector Fails to Start
  • If you have no pictures, sound or the projector fails to start, check that the power cord is plugged into the wall and that all the cables are connected to the rear panel. Make sure the remote control batteries are fresh. If you are using a notebook computer, make sure the screen output is correct. Check the Input Mode on the projector. Check the projector physically--is the lamp and cover in place? Check the key lock.

Model XG-E650UB. I have connected it to my laptop computer. But no video. If I do the same to a monitor, I get video.

Make sure your input on the projector is set correctly. Those are old projectors which take a max resolution of 800x600 ( I Think it's been about 5 years since i've seen one ) so on your pc, right click on the desktop, goto properties, settings and crank your screen's resolution right down to 800x600 or 640x480 and press the sync? button on the projector and see how you go.
    Happy projecting!

No color picture is in black and white only

I presume you are using a S-video input from maybe a computer source.
If it is an S-video source then you should try a different cable of better quality. Also check that the TV is set for the correct type of input.

Component Video inputs do not work

I started back in the day of tubes. A family would have one set and it would be a 19" black and white. There are different resolutions now. The components probably do work, but, they don't pass the 480i signal. The satelite converter's analog signal needs to be set to 480p and the DVD needs to be set to progressive if it does have that setting. If the DVD is not a progressive scan DVD, then, the only inputs that it will show on is the analog signal. Some of the dish converters have a switch on the face for changing the resolution. If yours doesn't then put it in an analog source and go to the menu and change it there. Then move it to the component input. Hope this helps.
