Question about Philips DVP5140 DVD Player
I'm from u.k. and have region 1 player but own some region 2 movies that i cannot watch
Most DVD players in Malaysia and Thailand, even bought from large stores are modified to play all regions. Probably true for most other Far East countries. Have a holiday out here or get a friend to bring one back. Alternatively buy an unlocked player from www.world-import.com.

You can have them converted (some places do it for a charge) or they can be played on a computer with a compatable DVD ROM and windows media player.

We actually gotta crack open the code via a firmware upgrade ...
then burn it on a CD-R
put the CD in the player and then a menue pops up and you can choose the region code. "0" is free.
this works 100%
