Battery driver not reinstalling properly

In the process of reformatting my hard drive, I lost the original power management functions; everything was wiped clean, unfortunately. I've tried repeatedly to reinstall the battery and power management functions, but without success. What could my error be in doing this?

Prior to reinstalling the OS, the battery function worked normally. Now, however, there is no battery operation at all, not even at a diminished capacity; unplug the AC, and the unit goes out.

    What is this.

there is no driver needed for your battery. Please try to explain your problem in more detail. I can help you setup your power management if that is all you need. Like when your computer monitor shuts off after a period of inactivity.

  • Steve Green May 11, 2010

Power management is a function of the BIOS and OS. If you moved from say Windows XP to Vista, it's possible that a new OS may not support the power functions. If it was the same OS, then you will need to locate the correct drivers on the mfr. website. Also look to see if there is a BIOS firmware update. If so, it may address this issue with a fix.

Can you help me fixed this error code SC863-06. it is the Returned, bad sector in Hard drive. I want to know the how to format the HDD.

go to system manager to reformat the hard drive
make sure that you know what you are doing because formatting a hard drive means that everything ( operating system, files folders) --everything is lost for good
better is you find the disc repair section in the manager section and use that and not the format section or return to a previous date before the problem and reinstall to that date

I would like to erase my hard drive and make my laptop new again how can I do that

Most laptops come with a "recovery" disc or feature which allows you to restore the laptop to its original factory condition. This will often include erasing everything on the hard drive (HDD) and reinstalling the original operating system and included software. In most cases anything you've saved to the HDD will be lost unless you make a backup first.

Another option is to use a Windows installation disc. When the disc is inserted (or if you boot from the disc) you will have the option of reinstalling Windows. You will be warned that all data on the HDD will be lost in the process. If you choose to continue Windows will reformat the HDD and perform a clean installation.

Choosing the option to reinstall Windows from a Windows disc may require an active internet connection or you may need to provide drivers in order for certain laptop hardware to perform correctly or be recognized by Windows. It is also important to choose a version of Windows which your laptop is capable of running.

How do I format the laptop? There is function key that does it?

Restore the pc to its original condition with HP Recovery Manager if computer can boot to the Windows desktop. Launch the Recovery manager
Note:Before doing recovery try to back up the important data like pictures and documents.
1.Click Start and enter Recovery in the search field. Select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available. Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
Alternately, click Start , All Programs , Recovery Manager , and then Recovery Manager . Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
1.Click Advanced options , System recovery , and then click Next . The PC will restart and reopen the recovery manager.
Alternately, if Advanced options is disabled, click Next , and then System Recovery . The PC will restart.
1.When the PC restarts, select the System recovery option and click Next .
1.If prompted to use the Microsoft System Restore program, click No , and then click Next .
1.When prompted, select the Back up your files first (recommended) option, and then click Next . Follow the on-screen instructions.
1.When prompted to Recover without backing up your files , please STOP before clicking Next .
WARNING: This is the final opportunity to change your mind about recovering the PC and deleting all the files and programs. Once you click Next , the restore process cannot be stopped
1.If you are satisfied that you want to begin the recover process, click Next . The PC immediately begins formatting the hard drive and destroying all data.
The recovery process may take up to several hours and will return the PC to its original condition. Any custom settings, drivers, software programs and updates, and/or hardware updates are lost and must be reinstalled.
If the PC cannot launch into Windows, it may still be possible to use the HP Recovery Manager on the hard drive to restore the computer to its original operating condition. The Recovery Manager can be launched during the start up process by following the steps below.
  1. Press the Power button to start the PC, and then press the f11 key when the standard BIOS prompts are displayed on the black screen. NOTE: Pressing the f11 key during the startup on a computer with an HP factory image will start the system recovery process even if the prompt is not displayed.
    • If the HP Recovery Manager can access the recovery partition on the hard drive, a prompt to backup the user files before beginning the recovery is displayed. Follow any on-screen instructions.
    • If the HP Recovery Manager cannot access the hard drive to fix any system errors, you will need to use the personalized recovery disc that you created to recover the hard drive to its original condition.
    • If you have not created the personalized recovery disc, or the discs are corrupted, you can order a replacement recovery disc from HP.
  2. When the Recovery Manager starts, follow the instructions.

Hp Pavilion 6701 desktop with ME. Installed Xubuntu OS and removed ME. Want to reinstall ME but recovery disc won't work.

Hard disk needs to be reformatted--start machine and press correct key when "setup" appears in first dialog. Remove hard drive in first screen, then reinstall. Restart computer, should now say: "operating system not found". You need original Microsoft OS disk to reformat drive and reinstall ME. All previous information on hard disk will be lost with this procedure. Recovery disk is used with original OS before Ubuntu. If you don't have original MS disk, suggest going to XP.

How can I reformat my A20m IBM Thinkpad..

Doing a Format on your PC Should Be A Last Resort! Reformatting your Windows computer is usually the absolute last resort and is often done unnecessarily. Before you go through the process of doing a reformat of your hard drive please take a few moments to read through the rest of our website. If you are reformatting to fix problems with your Windows computer it's possible that by using some of the tips on our site, or by downloading or purchasing some of the tools or products that we link to, you might be able to avoid the need to reformat your computer. Because doing a complete reformat of your computer will erase the contents of the hard drive and require you to reinstall all software, reformatting is usually a last resort. Some Computer Manufacturers Make Reformatting Easy Many name-brand PC manufacturers include a restore-disk which makes it easy to reformat your PC and return it to the state it was in on the day you purchased it. Some manufactures supply only a standard Microsoft Windows CD, and some (usually lower-end PC manufacturers) supply neither! If your PC did not come with a restore or reformatting CD, then you will need to take extra steps to format your hard drive and get Windows re-installed. Back Up Your Files Before You Reformat your Windows PC!Because the reformat or restore process erases everything on your computer, it is critical to have a backup of any important files on your computer. You will also need your original software install disks to reinstall any software you have purchased.

Things to do before you reformat your PC hard drive
  • Write down or print out all notes and internet pages because once the format process begins, you will no longer have access to them (or anything else in the PC)
  • As already stated, BACKUP all important files and data! When you reformat your computer everything will be erased!
  • Make sure you have all the CDs and other software. All programs will have to be reinstalled after you format the hard drive. Don't forget about software that came with hardware such as printers, scanners, etc.
  • Write down the brand and information for all the hardware on your computer. Look in the Device Manager and make note of the brand and model of network adaptors, video cards, sound cards, printers, modems, and displays. After reformatting you might need this information to reinstall drivers.

I own a acer aspire 5715z and im wondering how i can restore it to its original settings like when i got it? if you could help i really owe u

I believe the ACER aspires have a hidden back-up/ recovery
partition on the hard drive for just this purpose, and that there
is a magic button or key sequence during the boot up process
to activate this sequence.

This should be listed in your user manual, or the official tech
support center (telephone support) should be able to guide you
through this

The process will reformat the hard drive and re-install windows
and the original device drivers.

You will loose all Windows and device driver updates,
all user accounts, internet and desktop settings etc...
You may also loose all your user files, so back up
everything.

Downloaded and installed software licenses will
all be lost as well.
