I have a Lexmark X6650 wireless printer which has been working fine up until about a month ago. I have a linksys router on my desktop and use a laptop throughout my home on the wireless network. I am still able to print wirelessly from the laptop, but the desktop is not working. When I print a job, it goes in the queue and just sits there. I cannot delete it and the little printer icon stays in the active task. When this happens, I cannot print from the laptop because of an error stating the printer is busy. I have been on the chat with Lexmark for 3 hours and only got the result to contact my computer company, which I have a Dell Demension 2400, and find out what is going on with my spooler system.... ????
I found a similar post here that suggested looking at the printer spooler in the computer management services. I checked on that and the file is there, is started and on automatic.
This seems to me to be a software issue MS, not computer. Am I correct? The only way I can get the printer to start working again is to turn off the desktop, unplug the printer and plug it back. Then I can resume printing on the laptop.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software twice and tried running it wireless and cable both.
Any help for this dummy would be appreciated!! Really about ready to get the ball-peen hammer after this baby!
install new driver , search for it.
try a different cable for the printer, are you routing it from the scanner ? work the scanner.
go to trouble shooting see what it says.
go to adifferent port.
print a test page from the PC.
security setings from pc to router??????????
