Many models have a 'breaker' on them somewhere if the motor overheats, pulls too much current, etc. You may need to crawl under your saw, depending on the model, and reset it (typically a red button to press in). Otherwise, make sure the receptacle you have plugged it into is not tripped by plugging something into it that you know works.

Dewalt Model D304-04 reciprocating saw wont run. I plug it in, pull the trigger and it wont start. What am I doing wrong or what could the cause be?

Hi Fred:
Hmmmmm.
- Confirm there is power in the plug.
- use continuity meter to check that there is a complete circuit through the saw.
- broken connection in plug?
- broken wire between plug and switch?
- switch not functioning?
- switch set between forward and reverse?
- Speed control potentiometer contacts dirty?
- Bad brushes?

Won't start; plug looks good and has spark and it's getting fuel

Did you use the right fuel mix.? Does it still have good compression.? Have the piston rings been damaged.?
Check ignition switch.

Won't run

These tools are well known for overheating and failure (breaking off) one of the prongs that the battery connects to. This is part of the switch so it would need a new switch if this is the case.

Husqvarna 372xp won't start... Mysterious

I recently bought a brand new 372XP and spent the first day trying to start it as per the instruction manual with no success, never even fired once. Removed the plug to find plenty of fuel and that the plug has a good spark. Left it until the next day mainly to allow my arm to recover (& scour the internet for clues). I found a forum that said not to use the decompressor and sure enough without the use of the decompressor button it fired first go with the choke on then I reset the choke & it ran properly on the second pull. The decompressor button can be reset with fine nosed pliers or removal of the top cover by undoing three screws. Good luck it's a great saw once you know how to start it.

I have a husqvarna 450 that won't stay running and has oil coming out the excaust

It sounds well flooded, remove the spark plug, with the kill switch to off, crank the engine five or six times to evacuate any excess fuel in the cylinder, leave the machine for an hour or so, re fit the plug and attempt starting with no choke.

Saw runs continuously

The on off switch has a contact that has probably fused together from making and breaking causing an arc. You may try giving it a good 'wrap' with the back of a screw driver to free it, or replace the switch.

Delta Table Saw stopped running

I have a table saw that the cord from the motor plugs into the the back of the on/off switch. I yours is configured like that, unplug the motor cord from the back of the switch and plug it in to the wall and see if the motor will run. If so replace the switch.
