DM Board WS48511 Green Blinking Light

I have a WS48511 with the green blinking light - no power problem. I read your article regarding the DM Board repair dated 7/12/07 and downloaded the service manual from servicemanuals.net. The graphic in the service manual shows 7 capacitors not 4 in your article. Do I replace all seven with the same Panasonic 10,000 hour high temp capacitors (part number: P13119-ND )? You can email me at jcostello@memorialsb.org Thanks.

This is not at all consistent with the messaging I read from the 7/12/07 article on your web site.

My problem is I cannot get the blinking green light on the front panel to turn off. As a result, I cannot power up the TV. I have pushed the reset as prescribed in the owners manual and again the green light continues to blink. I have attempted to leave the tv unplugged, then plug back in and it still has the blinking green light.

The article on your web site and other's I have read suggest this is a common problem with Mitsubishi TVs and that it relates to a capacitor issue on the DM Board. The article on your web site suggests to replace the capacitors on the DM Board and to download the Service Manual for instructions on how to remove the DM Board for servicing. When I downloaded the Service Manual it shows a picture of the DM Board with 7 capacitors versus the article on your web site which referred to just 4 capacitors. Since there was a difference I decided to ask a question.

With respect to the various things you say to check I don't understand what you are saying.

If you do not already know where your problem is then Check for 12 volts DC (AC-off detect) at pin 3 of PC9A21, if missing replace PC9A21 part # 268P058020 on the Power PCB. LED does not blink at plug in. Check for 5-volts DC at connector RF pin 3 (system reset) if low or missing suspect the reset switch S7L20 part # 432P089010 on the Control PCB. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. This model is equipped with a keyboard lock feature; this can be mistaken as a no power condition. To unlock the keyboard press and hold the "menu" button on the front panel for 10 seconds . LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Check for 4.7 volts DC at connector RF pin 4 and 5 on the Signal PCB if low suspect problems with the switches/buttons on the Control PCB part # 935D587002 5. LED stops blinking after 70 seconds of plug in but will not power on. Keyboard is not locked and key inputs at connector RF pin 4 and 5 check good suspect the E2P PCB part # 935C978002 . Also if you can do a self diagnosis test by pressing the device and menu for 5 sec on panel of set and read the error codes.

What I was saying is that this set tell you what is wrong. First when you plug in does led blinks constantly without set coming on? If so then read up top what is said. You can also count the blinks and time it. If you can do the self diagnosis test first and read what warning it gives you can see if the problem lies in that area. If you have already start replacing caps and just need to know about the caps only, then let me know.

    Thanks

Mitsubishi green blinking light of death

Hi Jim,

Green blinking light of death on Mitsubishi DLP TV means that the DM failed to booted up. I would advice you to replaced the 7 1000uf electrolytic capacitor on the DM board. Most of the time it fixed the symptoms. Please inquire at tvrepairworld.com if they have an available DM repair kit for V36 chassis (WD-57733 chassis).

I have a mitsubishi ms-65511 and we had a poweroutage for several hours today and now the tv won't turn on and I am getting a continuous green light of death ... HELP

Thats caused by weak capacitors on the DM board which cannot recharge after the power has been restored. Very inexpensive repair . The WS48511 - WS55511 DM repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com has the capacitors and the CD with repair instructions which should solve the issue of the steady blinking green light.

The power wet off and now the timer green light is flashing and it wont turn on model # ws 55511

Thats caused by the 7 capacitors on the DM power board. They discharge when the power is lost and then cannot recharge when power is restored and the indicator light will blink non stop indicating the DM has not completed the boot sequence. Replace the DM caps. The WS48511 - WS65511 DM repair kit is the correct repair kit for your model. You can get the repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com

I have a Mitsubishi WD-62525 HDTV that suddenly wont turn on. Just has a green blinking light when you hit the power button. Any ideas?

I found this on another website, most likely it is your power supply capacitors.
  1. Press the "reset" button and hold for 10 seconds .... Does TV turn on and blinking green light turn to solid green.

  2. Unplug the TV from it's power source for various times, ranging between 5 minutes and 24 hours..... Does blinking green light continue upon plugging in the TV.

  3. Disconnect ALL devices from the TV; DVD, Tuner, Cable Box, unplug the TV for various duration times .... Does blinking green light continues upon plugging in the TV.

  4. Press Power and Menu buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.

  5. Press Power and Display buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.

  6. Insure that no front panel buttons are inadvertently stuck in an "engaged" position.

Diagnosis: If none of the above test resolve the issue, then the failure lies in one of the following:

  1. DM Module Capacitors have FAILED.
  2. DM Module is defective.
  3. EEPROM Board failure
  4. Power Supply failure.

Green power light keeps blinking

hi friend,
Repairing It Yourself
If you decide to repair the TV yourself, I recommend that you obtain a copy of the repair manual for your Mitsubishi TV from the Techlore website by going to Mitsubishi Service Manual. It will provide some direction, however it is technically written and may be difficult for the NOVICE to understand. If you are unable to locate the the service manual for your specific Model at the above Techlore link, you may need to purchase the service manual online at ServiceManuals.net.
If you decide to have a service technician do the repair, insist that the "DM" module is removed from the TV and ONLY the four 1000uF, 16V Capacitors (Caps) located on the DM Module are replaced. MOST techincians will INSIST on replacing the entire DM Module and not simply the capacitors. The cost is about $200 for a technician to replace the capacitors and $1000 for replacement of the DM Module. As you will read below, doing the repair yourself will cost less than $4.00 for the 4 Caps.
A Few "Cautions"
  1. Keep yourself "grounded" when working with the circuit board. Static electricity will destroy electronic components.
  2. When replacing the Capacitors, press them "down" onto the circuit board as far as they will go, hold them down, solder into place and clip the excess terminal lengths flush with solder. Only by doing this will the metal shield (little silver box) slide down and over the circuit board during re-assembly. There is not a lot of clearance when doing this, as the 105C Capacitors are slightly longer that the originals. With minimal effort everything does fit back together.
  3. Use ONLY 105º C capacitors with a voltage rating of 35 V.
  4. Re-insert the DM circuit board into the Mother board; press virmly and ensure a proper seat of the DM board. Next, slide the metal case down and over the DM circuit board. Refer to my "Lesson Learned."
Basic Troubleshooting
