Alarm light flashes 5 times

hi,
You might consider having a printhead cleaning but first:
Unplugg the printer from power and disconnect usb cables.
Press and hold the power button for a while and then release it.
Connect everything and turn on the printer.
Any flashes? If so,clean the printhead and remember to do it with a damp cloth and clean on the gold lines.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

My Canon MP530 is giving 6A00 error message and alarm light is flashing along with copy button. i have replaced empty ink cartridges with new ones. Can anyone help, please?

Error code 6A00 indicates an error occurred in the AP motor during purging operation. You need to replace sheet feed unit, logic board assy and purge unit to fix it. Before replacement of the logic board assy, check the waste ink amount (by service test print or EEPROM information print). If the waste ink amount is 7% or more, also replace the ink absorber kit when replacing the logic board assy.

I have an MP530 printer - error message 5C10 is

You could try resetting the printer:

1) On the panel, press and hold the <On/Off> button until the display goes blank (approx. 1 second). If the display does not go blank, unplug the power cord.

2) Wait approx. 10 seconds, plug in the power cord (if removed in previous step), press the <On/Off> button to power on the unit.

3) Wait for the printer to cycle through its startup routine before trying another print job.

I hope this helps!

Check printer 5100 error message.

error code 5100 means print head temperature rise error. In other word the print head is overheated. First, turn off your printer for some minutes (it recommended to take about 30 secs or more) and let it's cooled down. Turn on again. If the problem still persist, try to check whether the print head is good or not by comparing with another print head. Be carefully, sometimes this problem is caused by short circuitry inside the print head.

Canon mp530

As best I can tell from the User's Guide (available here if you don't have it), page 146, 5100 is a Service Error indicating that the print head is blocked/can't move. Remove power from the machine, open the top and check carefully inside to see if there are any pieces of paper or other items which may be blocking the print head from moving back and forth.

If you still have the same error after reapplying power, the unit probably needs to be serviced. You can use this link to find an authorized service facility near you. Give them a call and see if they can give you an estimate for repair.

Semper Fi Devildog, and good luck.

Alarm light on, Display indicates error message: Check Ink U150 M

I added my post today with the same problem, and thought I'd share what I since learned. Apparently this "Alarm light/U150" is common with several Canon models. The U150 indicates a faulty electronic chip (on the ink cartridge). Though I tried cleaning the sensor with isopropyl alcohol, and also tried removing all the cartridges, unplugging the printer for 45 seconds, then reconnecting, etc. as I had read might help, I still had the same frustrating problem. Contacting Canon was the solution that worked for me. First I emailed, but decided I didn't want to wait for their response. A call to Canon Tech Support (1-800-385-2155) was quick and painless. They will more than likely send you a new cartridge, but you'll need to have your serial # & date of purchase handy.
