Luckily for you, this is the easiest thing to fix. I have plenty of experience. All you need is the ability to type and read. :O! First you mead an Operating System installation cd. If you do not have one, buy one from the nearest computer store. Take the cd out of it's case and pop it into your cd drive(hope you have one). Next start up you computer. Depending on your manufacturer, somewhere on thee boot screen will say F and a number followed by something like boot menu. Press the F and the corresponding number button on your keyboard. Select cd drive. Now the operating system installation process will load. Everthing should be self explanatory from now on. The serial key is located on your cd or on the case that you bought it in.

This can happen for a few reasons.

Power to the drive has failed or the connector is loose. (check bothe the power and dada connection by unplug and replug each end one at a time.

The bios may be looking at the wrong place and maybe set to only look at one device. Check the boot order and preferences in bios (your drive should show in here if the bios sees it)

The drive has died. If its making any clicking sounds then it has most probably died. You can remove the drive and connect it to another suitable computer to check it. If it works on another computer it is quite possibly a motherboard issue.

If it does not work on another computer should replace it (maybe with a larger one even ?) and re-install your operating system.

It is also possible that the data cable has just failed as they do on occasion.

White Screen Compaq Presario CQ60

Regarding ; White screen , I flipped my notebook over and removed the power source(s) , power cord and battery. I then removed the three screws in the battery cavity and the two outside corner screws to gain access to the connection for the LCD and found a loose connection. It seems that the wire that connects to the screen was being moved every time I opened and closed my computer. So very glad to find that bulb and inverter board was not bad. Prior to this , I did try external monitor and found that all was okay as far as operation of start-up.

Missing Maytag Neptune Dryer Door Screws Who can help Me?

Did you drop them inside the dryer, or just lose them. You can always use your model number with a parts search online and find replacement screws. A good place to start would be www.appliancepartspros.com If you do a search on a particular site, and it shows something like we found x amount of close matches, then try another site until you find an exact match to the model number.

Hope that helps.

Hi, I have the cloud B sleep sheep and it appears to be malfunctioning. It turns on/off before the time limit is up. It's also making a swoosh sound like static and when I go to reset it, it takes a few...

Hi, it sounds like your Sleep Sheep may need new batteries. When the batteries begin to die, the Sleep Sheep starts to act erratically, sometimes only turning on for a second or two, or only working if you hold down one of the buttons.

To open the battery compartment, you'll need a tiny Phillips screwdriver, like one found in a computer repair toolkit or an eyeglass repair toolkit. Once you've removed the two screws, slide the battery cover to the left (away from the screw holes). The Sleep Sheep takes two AA batteries.

Hope that helps!

My computer will not turn on, please help. i need to get it to turn on so i can transfer all docs to my new computer.

If you cannot get your laptop to turn on, pull the hard drive and go t a computer retail store or Ebay, and get yourself a EIDE/SATA to USB adapter for the drive, that way you can attach the drive to your other computer via the usb cable and transfer any and all files. Here are some steps to try to get the computer to start.

This is a sample of what you can try to do to diagnose a non-starting computer, If these don’t work, realize that most likely a system board (motherboard) has failed or the actual power trim strip above the keyboard has failed.

  1. Unplug the computer, then take the battery out, push the power button and hold it for about 30 seconds. Plug the system back in (leave battery out) and push the power button. If it starts, Great! If not unplug go to the next step.
  2. You should still have the battery out and the power unplugged. Now turn the laptop over. Take off all the covers and pull out the hard drive and ram and wireless card. Find the screw that has a symbol kind of like this its the CD rom drive screw. Now pull the drive out. Pick one stick of ram and put it back in the computer. Flip it over open it plug it in and hit the power button. If it does not fire up then unplug it and switch the ram. Plug it back in and hit the power button again. If it doesn't start up, unplug the computer and go to the last step.
  3. Pull the memory out and find the screws that hold the keyboard on. There are symbols in the plastic there should be 2 screws holding it in. Now in the battery compartment, there are several screw at the back edge of the computer take them out and also the ones in the battery in the center strip. Some are silver and some are black. Once you have the screws out of the battery area flip the computer over and open the lid. The strip just below the LCD with the power button and controls will now be able to be lifted up. You will probably have to lightly get an edge started before it will come up. There should be several little cables hooked to it. Flip the control panel over and look for some screws holding the keyboard in. I think there's 2. Lift up the keyboard. Making sure there's nothing touching anything important and then plug the computer in. Carefully hit the power button and see if the computer tries to start. If it does try it will probably beep at you. Unplug it and put a stick of ram in it. Plug it in and try to start it again. If not, unplug the computer and Go to the next step.
  4. Carefully put the keyboard and control strip in place. Flip the computer over and loosen all the screws that hold the computer together. Flip the computer over again and pull the keyboard and control strip up again. Flex the inner aluminum plate that was under the keyboard lightly. Plug in the computer and then hit the power button. If it tries to start, Great! put it together again in the reverse process.
If it does not, there are 2 possible things I would suspect the Control strip or the mainboard. If you don't get the computer to start back up please put it back together so you remember where all the screws go. Even if you plan to get another mainboard put it back together.

The lights flicker and it starts to start, but then doesn't stay on or progress

Try performing an automatic sequence test which can help indicate where the problem is. Instructions could be found in a plastic bag attached to the inside of the kick panel which is located below the door. You'll need a phillips screw driver to remove the four screws that hold it in place. If you can't find the instruction, let me know and I'll give you further instructions. Good Luck, Burnie 1503

Open up your ps3 on the right site with a small flat screw driver.
Turn out the blue screw with a small cross screw driver, slide the hard drive to the left and pull it to warts of you, note it is a 2'5 inch sata notebook harddrive.
Hook it up to a pc or mac to run a diagnostic check on it to see if it is crashed, by the way you're able to tell by the sound it makes if it crashed.

Toshiba A75-S231 on/off glow ring.

The plastic strip with the power button/glow ring, comes off. I believe there is at least one, and maybe two screws on the bottom that hold it. Take out the screws that are directly bellow the strip, it doesn't matter if you remove all screws in that area just so long as you put them back. After removing the screws, pry up one end of the strip, and lift up the rest, the strip will snap up and off. I've found that it's easier if you get it started from the top of the keyboard, rather than trying to get under the very end next to the other plastic area for the initial pry or lift on the strip.
