Hello there:
if this is in a older house i would remove the shower head and see if it continuse to leak the substance (rust more than likley) if so i would have the water heater checked to see if the coil inside might be rusting out and starting to fail if there is no substance leaking when the head is off i would inspect the condition of theshower head and see if their is particles inside of the shower head.
clr is a good chemicle for cleaning the internals of the shower head . ok?
i hope that this has helped you out please let me know by giving my solution a rating ok?
best regards michael

Seem to have water leaking under shower into storage competition ment, tried caulking only happens when shower is on and someone is in it very frustrating

Very often happens for a number of reasons

Bad caulking around the shower base and the base drops with the weight of the occupant allowing water past the caulking.

Crack and bad seal on a wall tile.

A split in the base itself which opens up with weight and you can't see with the base empty.

A leak in the pipes behind the wall from the mixer unit to the shower head.

Split pipes or fitting to the drain.

Best way is a full tear down, refurbishment and start anew :>)

Water leak behind shower wall when i turn on hot and cold water

If it only happens when you turn the water to the shower on, it must be a problem with the piping after the valve. Take the shower arm out and wrap it with Teflon, it could be as simple as leaking threads. It could also be a leaking/poorly soldered copper fitting, or even a defect in the enclosure itself.

Shower walls

You have got a lot of moisture behind your wall covering. Is that a plastic or fiberglass shower wall liner? You are going to have to tear out the shower walls, clean the studs, replace insulation and put in new walls. You must stop the leak too! You could be growing a lot of mold in the cavity behind your wall.

Symmons temtrol type A only leaks when water is being used and leaks in the wall. what do i need to do?

If it leaks only when used, the leak is coming from the the lines running to the shower head or faucet (if you have one), or both - the leak will most likely be occurring at a fitting, either where these lines connect to the valve body, or elsewhere along them.

Leaks in the wall space can lead to rot and mold. Best not to use the shower until its fixed. Its a relatively straight-forward repair if you know a bit about plumbing and have an adventurous spirit. If not, I recommend calling a plumber.

We have Delta brand tub/shower fixtures, the one handle kind. The problem is that water comes out of both the tub faucet and the shower head, even though the shower is not turned on. This happens every...

You need to replace the tub diverter/spout. There are two kinds, I hope you have the kind with
an allen head set screw on the bottom side of the spout near the shower wall. These are super
easy to replace ! Loosen the set screw, twist the spout a little and it should slide off. When installing
the new spout, smear some vaseline on the copper pipe sticking out, this will help seal the new O rings in the spout.

The other kind of spout has pipe threads in it. They can be a little more tricky. I got called to a
house one time. The plastic female threads on the spout cracked when the plumber installed it.
The water ran down the inside of the wall and did damage down stairs. The leak could not be seen
until the sheet rock down stairs fell down from being soaked. You need to put some pipe dope on the threads, then tighten the spout on by hand, so as not to scratch it with a pump pliers.

I hope this helps !

I have a Moen shower faucet that is six years old(copper sweated plumbing). My wife noticed water dripping profusely from the downstairs ceiling during my shower. The screws holding the face plate were...

Try removing the handle, then the face plate. With a flashlight handy, check inside the wall around the valve to see if you see any leaks. Then, try the valve by pulling the stem (may need a plier to grab this). Keep checking inside the wall. Next, try the shower, and again watch in the hole you have. You may find that the connection(s) to the valve is/are leaking, particularly at the top of the valve where the shower pipe heads up the wall. Or, it may be that the shower head's arm is leaking somewhere above. If you only see water dripping down from above, try the flashlight with a small make-up mirror to see if you can see where it's coming from. Sometimes the pressure in the shower head builds up from the flow restrictor, or the head's spray holes may need cleaning out (try soaking the head in a solution of CLR [stands for Calcium, Lime, Rust] available at most home improvement/ hardware stores). Sometimes the shower arm (the bent 1/2" diameter pipe that the shower head mounts to) isn't fastened in tightly enough. A good trick to help here is to wrap the threads with teflon tape, then apply teflon paste also. Wrap the tape clockwise around the threads so that it doesn't unwrap when you screw the pipe back into the fitting in the wall. Also, make sure the threads in the fitting in the wall are cleaned out, and don't let any debris contaminate the new teflon paste as you slip it back through the hole in the wall. If you find that the pipe out of the top of the valve is leaking, I recommend you call the plumber. He/she can likely fix it without taking the wall apart.

Water leaks shere showerhead joins the shower stem

when reconnecting the shower head to the pipe coming from the wall..

did you use some pipe tape, pro dope or another type of joining compound?

this seems likely to be the problem.. if you don't have any on hand, visit a hardware store and ask their staff for pipe tape for plumbing and you should be pointed into the right direction.

Water start leaking under the house when you pull the deverter up to turn the shower on, its floods out bad!

I'm assuming the leak is in the wall somewhere between the on/off lever or knob and the shower head. It is a good chance that it is the mixing-valve. It could also be where the shower head screws into the drop-eared 90*. If it is the mixing valve, it is either ruined, or a bad seal that might be replaceable. If it is busted piping the wall will have to be opened up to replace it. Good chance that the arm to the shower head is leaking at the threads where it screw into the wall. Good luck.

Hi, Advice please, my shower when on hot comes normal out of the shower head but when water temperature normal it stream out of the bottom of the wall fitting, gainsborough shower 2 years old approx....

If you are taking about then neck of the shower head this is what you must do. its no need to turn the water off to the house or to the bathroom first you will need a pair of channel locks and some Teflon tape. first remove the shower head if you dont want to scar the nut on the shower head place cloth between the pliers and the fitting, once removed (very important) turn the channel locks upside down stick one side of the blue handle up in the neck of the shower and rotate to your left to loosen if you are having a leak leak there it should already be semi loose, once removed wrap the threads with the Teflon tape and re-insert making sure it is tight, then wrap the the outer end of the neck with Teflon tape and place the head back on.The reason it leaked is because the plumber who installed it did not tighten it up completly because he wanted it to look straight coming out of the wall and the additional water pressure causes it to leak wheras the hot water causes it to expand and seal

Walk in shower leak into room below

I would unscrew shower head pipe and either pipe dope it or tefilon the threads and then reinstall it. I would also take the handle(s) rosettes off and look for a leak from there with a flashlight, while shower is on. I believe the most comon leak for walk in showers are the door seals. Are you sure it is not coming out from under the door? Another test that yuo may want to preform is to Stopper the drain, fill the shower pan with water and watch for bubbles, or look for leaks from below.
