Question about Samsung LN-T4053H 40 in. LCD Television

Two (2) minute start up Samsung LNT4065F

I installed an update to software on this LCD TV a while back. About the same timeI started having this excessive start up time. You can hear the TV pwr up about three times before it takes hold. I have noticed no other effects and am not entirely sure it's due to the update. I've been told by a repair person this sounds more like a pwr supply problem. Anyone have any thoughts?

I found information on the earthinfo website that seems to pretty well describe, what I think to be the problem. I believe this to be a capasitor problem on the pwer supply. I'm going to try and replace these as time permits. It Seems MANY have had this problem and I'm convinced this is the resolve I'm going to persue. Very helpfull website, step by step instructions and pictures. I do not, at this time, believe this to be any software issue.

Is a new main board the likely solution? Samsung LCD TV bricked after misguided firmware update attempt. TV's LCD lights work. Red 'On' light lights. Have sound no picture. TCOM board OK?

Don't know much about TV,s but I would look for a reset. Either electronic option in the settings or perhaps a manual one on the TV to return the TV to its original factory software.

After initial set up and download, TV is displaying a hand on power plug picture with a red circle and line through it and a refresh symbol in light blue next to it, what does this mean?

Hi! and Welcome to Fixya!

What you have on the tv screen is a warning sign that your tv is currently updating its software. A hand holding a power plug with red circle on it says do not unplug the tv while its running the software update. The usual time for the update to finish is 60 minutes. It may took more than 60 minutes if you have a slow internet speed. This is normal especially if you are running the software update for the first time during the initial setup. The next time tv performs software updates it will take shorter time.

However, if the updates took more than two hours, the tv may be frozen. You can unplug and plug it back in and start from the initial setup again.

On some rare occasion, the tv may not proceed with the initial setup. You may have to turn off your modem to complete the initial setup. when initial setup is done, connect your tv to network and run software update again.

Let me know if you still have other questions.

My Samsung LNT4065F won't turn on.

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. Or, something simple like a blown fuse inside the TV. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.
You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
