Hi david_culley,

looks like the installation did not work out properly
you may be caught in a routine that the machine boots up continously,
If you have an onboard graphics card, please disable it in the BIOS before your computer can find the newly installed device.

try this and if you still face the prob please come back to fixya.

Good luck

There should be a function key such as the one pictured below to the left of the Windows key. Press and hold this button and then press the corresponding brightness adjustment keys that are located on the F1-F12 buttons. If this does not work, you may need to update your graphics driver. To do this, I would recommend going on to the Acer support page Acer Service Support. Look for you model and operating system, and download the driver. Reboot after installation, and try your Fn keys again.

Good luck!

How do i upgrade inbuilt graphics?

You probably need to go into the Bois settings and disable the on board graphics. To do this you will need to start by being plugged into the on board graphics and have the GeForce card plugged in. Turn the computer on and during the HP splash screen, you sill see some options. I believe the setup option is F10. You will need to press this key to enter the setup. You will now need to locate the video options and set the source to the PCI-E. This will disable the onboard and enable the GeForce card. Once you save this setting and reboot you will need to move your monitor cable from the onboard card to the new card and finish the installation in windows.

Hope this helps

Xfx video card stop displaying on monitor. I use xfx motherboard connector instead and display is OK

This is a BIOS problem, you have to boot to BIOS config menu, do it by pressing f1 or f2 or f10 on boot splash screen, browse the menus and find an option like 'init display first' or something like that, set it to Pcie or AGP, depending on your motherboard, reboot and voila!, have a nice day

How do i reset a bios on my laptop

If your model is fairly new:
1. Turn on computer by Holding down power button while pressing the ESC key.
The machine will beep, then display:
Check System, then press [F1] key.
2. Release ESC key
3. Press F1 key
Otherwise press ESC quickly after it comes on, and then it will show somewhere "press XXX for setup" or similar

When you are in the BIOS, then there should be an entry somewhere that says "reset to system defaults" or "reset factory defaults" or "reset optimal" or similar. Do that, then reboot. Bios will be reset.

I have a Gateway DX4822 with Acer G43T-AM v2.0 Motherboard. I want to remove the GT220 Video Card and install an ASUS ENGTX465. When I boot up the video does not start and the computer fails to complete...

First open the cpu cabinet and install the new graphic card in 1 of the pci slot or AGP slot. Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT +F2 key to enter in bios. Then disable on board vga .Then save settings and exit. Then when you power up the computer press F8 key 5 to 6 times then you can see safe mode and other menu. Enter in enable vga mode then uninstall old graphic driver and install driver of new graphics card. then go to display settings change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Compaq Computer

when the pc is powering up, keep pressing F8 to get into safe mode, and when in the menu select last known good configuration and press enter for a reboot. This should get you running, if not restart again pressing F8, but this time select start windows in safe mode and whilst in safe mode select the administrator account and try doing a system restore to a date before you tried loading the programe, and let the pc re boot, and hopefully you are now ok.
