My legacy la 4299 amp power is on with the car off

there is a remote on-off power wire that is supposed to connect the amp to an internal circult, which only sends power when the car is on. you can tap this kead off the acc fuse, but the actual power needs to be ran directly to the battery, with an inline fuse under the hood

1. Stop going to this shop.
A fuse that keeps blowing is a sign of a problem. You never replace a fuse with one of a higher amperage because the idea is the fuse is suppose to blow before the the wires melt and catch on fire. The reason it stopped working and the fuse didn't blow is probably be cause the wire did melt someplace and you are lucky the car didn't burn. If it did burn and the insurance company found the 40 amp fuse, they would probably have refused to pay.
The idea that a repair shop would do this tells me that they don't know what they are doing. Read this

I need to know the size of external fuses for a american legacy amp 2000 watt 2 channel 1990

25 to 30 amp fuses will work great, anything lower could possibly blow a fuse when a good bass note hits even if there is nothing wrong with the amp. Hope this helps.

Amp turns off

what ohm is it running at? if you have all three hook up it parallel then its to low of ohms and it would be louder if you unhook your 10" sub as it moves differently form the 12"s and it cancels out some bass. but if you want it then you have to change the wiring around a bit. take the positive wire off a 12 and put it on the positive side of the 10 and then take the ground for the 10 and hook it up to the positive side of the 12. so you should have one wire from the amp going to the negative side of the 12 and one going to the positive side of the 10 and a jumper wire from the 10 to the 12. and if it still shuts off then you have bigger problems.

Amp over heating and cutting off

sounds like the Impedance of the speakers does not match that of the amp, therefore the output stage of the amp is trying to compensate, driving the amps too hard and eventually causing the thermal cut out to activate. Check the ratings on everything are compatible before you start sending it off to be fixed.

Car amp blows 12 volt wire fuse

the wire from your battery is blowing fuses? and you are using 20-30 A fuses? mine has a 100A fuse..look into getting new wire plus my wire is 4 gauge.., 1600 watts is too powerful for a 12 g wire and a 30 A fuse

Legacy 4000w amp acting funny with subs

You either have a short, or the speakers are too powerfull for it, or the most likely problem is that your fuse is like 15 amps, but the amp is like 20 amps, so check the amps and if they are near 13 or higher, put in a higher rated fuse. :)

What size fuse do i need for amp

start with a 50, may need to increase it if you are not using a large capacitor.
600 watts = 12x
x= 600 watts / 12 volts
x = 50 amps
