31cc MTD garden tiller. Runs on idle at setting 1. Killed quickly when setting moved to 2. Has sat empty for a month. Gas used to mix w oil was from a can that has been in the shed for 2 months. As the engine idles there is a sticky fuel drip down one side.

Using some carb and choke cleaner try cleaning the carb. It could be that you have some varnish or built up crude in there. When you get it running on setting 1 give it a little shot of cleaner. It might stall out but just restart it. You might have to do this a few times but it should help. If that does not help I would take the carb off and give it a good cleaning. You might have to rebuild the carb also.

Good luck.

What is the oil type and oil/gas mix ratio needed for the Troy Bilt 31cc blower (TB310QS)?

I always suggest using a full synthetic 2 stroke oil for these machines. It provides superior lubrication qualities and burns cleaner than conventional oil. The fuel/oil mix ratio is 40:1. That is 3.2 ounces of oil mixed in 1 US gallon of gas. Half that to mix up a 1/2 gallon. You can find this info and more in your manual. The fuel info is located on page 10.

You will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view your manual as it is in PDF format. If you don't have it, you can get a free download from their site. It is safe.
