Hi,

The first thing I want you to do is cut the filter apart, remove a few of the pleats and squeeze them in a vise. You will be looking for fine black material, and anything else . Also, did you remove the transmission suction screen and clean it?
I believe the screen is located on the lower right rear corner of the case, a cover with three bolts holds it in place.. You will have to drain the transmission to remove the screen. There isn't much that can go wrong in the syncro-range other than bearing problems, unlike the power shift which can get clutch slippage within the clutch packs. Its possible one of the oil tubes has broken within the transmission in turn causing one(or more) of the bearings to be not receiving lubrication.

Also, if you can, clean off the rear of the transmission housing, if the paint is discolored, this would indicate that the brake behind the rear-most housing is hanging up. If the machine is still pulling good I would not suspect clutch slippage as the problem. The brake housing will need to be removed and disassembled, thoroughly disassemble the components in the housing, paying close attention to how things are assembled. When you get the parts, ask your dealer to print you off a picture of the parts listing for the brake housing, this will aid in re-assembly. When apart, be sure to not skimp on what parts you replace, if the disk shows discoloration/scoring it will need to be replaced as well as the brake pads. Verify that the linkages going to the brake lever are not bent, hung or other wise malfunctioning. Also, this would be a good time to remove the floor plates and clean any accumulated debris out (sticks, leaves....).

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a John Deere LT155. When you let off of either the forward or reverse pedal the tractor comes to an abrupt stop. It will actually lock the wheels.

Hi, most likely the brakes are hanging up. Follow the brake pedal path to the rear of the mower, it is attached to a small arm on the side of the diff that is probably locked forward. This lever and the pins behind it need to be freed up so the lever operates forward and backward freely when the brakes are applied and released. Hope this helps, regards Phil.
