Question about LG 42LC2D 42 in. LCD HDTV
My TV have developed this same issue repeated inquiry's to LG yield the same result " we can recommend a repair facility." This is gonna cost ya. From all the other post I have read about this issue it looks like a power control board issue with bad cap's. This problem has hit the computer industry also. There is/was a manufacture in china making these crappy cap's and sold to everyone. ( must have been cheap ) gateway dell IBM hp bought them for their system board and a year or so they leaked. this must be the same issue. Know I have to take this unit apart and try to replace these cap's ohh boy looks like a challenge will post how i make out when i get the courage to do it.
Replacing capacitors is a guessing game. 60% of the problems are caps, but it could be a bad diode or a mini-transformer. For a do-it-yourself, best to have the best research material available for the TV to get down to the real problem. A Service Manual for the TV will have the diagrams, schematics, test points, and part number lists.
