My 3 year old Compaq Presario reboots by itself every once in awhile. I'm currently running Norton 2009; so, I hope I'm protected against most virus!? Is there anything I should look at as to why it reboots every once in awhile or should I take it into a shop?

I have the product key for tune up the computer. were do I go?

If related to Norton Live Services, such service expires 30 days after purchase. Norton System Works 2009 is a discontinued product, for example. Both Norton and McAfee offer this kind of remote tune up for fees currently. You pay for the service or try freeware (after backing up your systems and creating restore points). Utility suites tend to tamper with the registry, a practice eventually regretted. Forewarned, you can check Slimcleaner, or WinOptimizer, or the commercial System Mechanic. You would be wasting your time to try to squeeze a free tuneup for a 2009 bonus product from Norton.

Norton Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages & Disadvantages:-

Though Norton anti-virus products and its various versions are one of the best protection software, Norton anti-virus software has some advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages: -

When Symantec redesign Norton for Widows compatibility, Norton becomes one of the best protection software in the market. With its every release Norton introduced new features or upgraded features. Norton release new versions almost every year. Some unique features of Norton anti-virus are Sonar protection, File Insight, Network Insight, Power Eraser tool etc. which provides more reliable protection against viruses and other malicious code. It can run at background to work silently. It will warn you before running or installing malicious programs. It can protect your computer spreading viruses from your Facebook feed, e-mail attachments. Simple user interface will help you to work more easily. Norton provides PC utility tool to tune-up your pc and Backup and Restore tool. You can solve your problems online from tech support, where you can find answers for possible problems, use-one-click-solution-first to solve your problems manually and customer help desk, where you can interact with tech support personnel for your query.

Disadvantages:-

While Norton offers variety of benefits to its users, there are also some drawbacks as well. Computers that have an old copy installed might experience this resource issue.

Uninstalling is another drawback of Norton. If you attempt to remove Norton Antivirus, the uninstallation process proves difficult. This is one area where Norton fails to compete with its competitors, according to PC Antivirus Reviews. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
gee.... why must i say that.... sad no>?

get rid of norton (its horrid buy Eset)
and XP is dead now for 3 years, why run that? its a virus magnet?
run linux, on old slow dogs like this.
memory is complex.
sw when did you get those Dimms, 10 years ago or yesterday
when did it go from 1 to 4. and now, and what brand and number.

let me guess, its the wrong memory. I bet.
finding good memory in 2017 for such an old pc is not easy
in fact its hard to buy, and if you find it, its sold by scalpers.
used, memory.
the memory must match the needs of that OLD CPU
and or its mmc controller, that be a hard cold fact.
and no PC now uses that old memory, why not buy a PC that is 10 years and newer and ovoid fixing and dumping cash on any XP puter made>? be super wise that.....
the pC is 2005 years. 12 years old.
it runs a Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz
came with 2x 256mb sticks. new, and are special.
4 gigs max, 4x1
PC3200 MB/sec
the PC is a Presario (key name to find mem)
but wait there is a DT and LT Presario, must I guess that too?>
ill answer desktop DT.
the top maker is KINGSTON, and they stopped making DDR2.

does that new memory show up in BIOS?
does it pass the BIOS memory checks?
i bet not.
but get rid of norton. youne

all you said was norton dies, with excess memory
nor what else works with full memory, what works and not works
is key to all diagnosis.
you do know norton sux, and will charge you 50bucks to reactivate it right?
not only that but norton is very heard to remove back when./
I use pro grade, RevoInstaller, to kill things like this.
next time post what works with full memory.

if your memory worked for years, say so.... we cant guess
what happened when nor what upgrades done when
sorry

Laptop infected with worm? Help

No virus checker catches them all, and frankly, Norton 360 is pretty weak. Try running AVG, which is downloadable and free.

I have a sbg 900 motem and router combined how do i secure it for the internet

The router is a hardware firewall so your systems is already protected from intrusions. The internet can only see the routers i.p address and cannot see anything beyond that.If you want to be bulletproof do this as well. Do all your windows updates and keep them current. Get a good internet protection suite and keep it current.Norton Internet 2009 gets great scores from the experts and unlike old Norton products it is not a rescouce hog.It does all Antivirus,Spyware and Malware, root kit protection, anti phishing and tons more.
