Question about Big Green Egg Large All-in-One Grill / Smoker
1) My BGE flew over to USA on returning empty C-5 in '70s. It had/has a rusting, flaking, weakening, chrome-plated tubular steel base with rubber wheels. Are replacements available?
2) Clay bbq brick fire holder is broken into 3 pieces. Official BGE site says any good fire resistant epoxy should work to glue it back together but pays NO attention to possible toxic cook-off from solvents in epoxy, although they caution often that one should NOT use any liquid fire starter because clay might absorb solvent affecting taste (and safety??). Why do they NOT seem concerned about solvents in epoxy? Maybe there are no solvents in epoxy???
Once the epoxy cures completely, the solvents/liquids are gone, otherwise it would never cure. Buy a good quality one for use on cooking containers like the BGE.
