Is it possible to partion System drive.?

If your C drive take up all the 250GB, and the used data is not up to 250 GB( I means there are some free space on your c drive) you could use other partition software to release some free space ( resize partition) then create new partition, with the help of partition software, it could apply the operation without re install OS.

My PC which is Windows XP has not been working good for a few months now. When I bootup in the morning everything shows up but any programs that I click on will not come up even Internet Exporer, the...

There are several factors which could be causing this, the four I suspect are :
1.) Hard drive is affected with bad sectors and RSC errors
2.) You have a virus
3.) Windows is corrupt
4.) Your hard drive is fragmented badly

In this order, try these solutions.

1.) Go to My Computer then right click on the hard drive icon, go to properties / tools and defragment hard drive. This will take a long time.
When this is done, same as above but under properties/ tools, schedule a disk check on reboot.

(these actions will fix any errors that CAN be repaired easily in windows and move your files where they should be on the hard drive (over time, windows likes to "chuck the files anywhere it can", resulting in slow performance and the need to reboot.

2.) Now, go Back to my computer hard drive and properties and see how much space is FREE on your hard drive, if it is less than 1GB, click on Disk cleanup. This will remove all the junk files like cookies and the other detritus that accumulates over a period of time. If after this there is still only a little free space, then get as much off the drive and saved elsewhere as you can.. consider fitting another hard drive as a slave to store your data on and leave the main drive to do the programmes etc.
(Windows uses what is called a "swap file", this "helps" the computer run programmes and store info in memory...if thre is not enough free space on your drive, it struggles to work efficiently.

3.) Even if the computer is now working faster, STILL do this.
Download a copy of HDD tune from the internet (the free version) and install and run, in the tab for doing a disk check, do a quick check and if any of the little green squares turns red (more than 3 is not good), get your data off asap and prepare to replace the HDD asap.

4.) Download a copy of DRWEB Cure it from the internet, save to a memory stick and run it on the computer, this will NOT install to the hard drive, BUT will scan to get rid of any viruses and malware

This should sort out your problems

I have a acer aspire one and this pop-up keeps coming up saying 'out of virtual memory' - i dont know what to do. Also every hour or so my theme changes to classic (i have Windows XP) for about 5-10...

Virtual memory is the space the laptop uses on the hard drive to write to and read from. It usually is caused by running too many applications at once, thereby putting a greater demand on the free disc space you have,

Firstly, you need to check how much free disc space you have. Less than say 1 GB will flag up the issue ( depending how much virtual memory the computer is allocating). You need to remove some data from the hard drive and back it up to free some disc space

Then consider upgrading your ram to help you run more programmes at once if needed

Finally, consider getting an external usb drive to store data on, or upgrade your hard drive

What is pagefile.sys do? And why does it take so much space? Also I wanted Windows XP to look more like Windows 7, can any one help?

Pagefile is reserved space on the hard drive in case you run out of physical memory, the hard drive can write the overflow to the hard drive and not crash the PC.

For the Windows 7 look for xp, Google this: Windows 7 theme for XP. You'll find many themes for free that will make xp look like Windows 7 there.

Cheers!

Netbook hard drive problem

Please login to the Computer with the Windows Operating System. Now, open the Disk Management window. Click on Start and select Run. In the Run command box, type Diskmgnt.msc and press Enter.
In the Disk Management window, you can view the 66 GB allocated space for Ubuntu. Right click on 66 GB space and select format. Now, you will get free space for Windows only.

Does Belkin transfer programme files?. Also I want to know if this product transfers from XP to XP, desktop to desktop. Basically, I am moving from a 20gb to 80gb hard drive and want everything to be in...

A transfer cable kit will only transfer files and settings to another computer. What you want to do is have your 20GB hard drive imaged to a clean 80GB hard drive. That would transfer everything and give you extra space.

Some people call this "Ghosting" using a product from symantec called "Ghost" and another product that can be used for free (home use) would be "Drive Image XML" .

I would suggest going to your local Computer Shop and requesting this type of service.

yes, you can reinstakk a fresh copy of your winxp be sure you the OS(Microsoft XP)Xp and all the drivers that you need. For the password problem, restart your computer, and then start pressing F2.once you're in your BIOS(a blue window that has some white textes).try to change the boot sequence.make your cd/dvd rom first on the list and then save and exit and then it will restart the computer.once you'll see a warning,"press a key to boot to cd" immediately press a key(enter or something).then you will go to the window set-up.(for a detailed installation guide just go to this site:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/install.mspx).BE SURE TO BACK UP all of your important files before reinstalling your OS,okey.for OS reinstallation-it will take 30-45 minutes to finish.with regard to your HD, it would be best if you'll buy a new one.A hard drive that has a bigger capacity.40GB or 80 G or more.the problem wit 4GB, is when the free space of your HD will be less than 2GB.you'll experience a slow performance in your computer.it is advisable to have more than 2gb of free space on your c drive
